Do strollers ever get stolen?

Thanks for the insight, everyone. I guess it probably doesn't make sense to pay $100 to steal a stroller...

It makes sense to pay $100 and steal a bunch of strollers. That is what one poster found out when their stroller was stolen. Turns out the thief had taken a bunch over their one day in the park, they had a trunk full when the cops caught up with them.

The odds are your stroller won't get taken. If you don't like playing the odds take a lock and lock the back wheels together.

Maybe that dude or dudette had an AP? Haha. Who knows. Being a thief seems like a lot work to me vs reward though.

Think of it this way" You resell the strollers on E-bay for $40 a pop. Steal and sell 3, and you have more than made back the cost of your park ticket. Sell 5 and you have double your money back.

We used a Chicco system, and used the stroller in DLR multiple times, stroller was never molested. We didn't leave valuables in the stroller, obviously.

I remember a great tip for strollers. Take a diaper and soak it in cola. Then put it in a clear bag and tie to the handle. No ones touching that!
All that does is single out your stroller as one to steal. Think about why on gods green earth would someone leave a dirty diaper tied to a stroller in a place where there are literally garbage cans every ten feet? It would take me 30 seconds to remove it (and I would probably leave it right where the stroller was because you thought I was that stupid). Then keep moving. You could try a stroller lock but don't lock the stroller to anything, just lock two wheels to make it difficult to move. Although really with the millions of strollers that go through Disney each year the chance that yours will be stolen is teeny tiny. Don't leave valuables in there because those have a higher chance of getting stolen

I've gone with my uppababy vista, my city elite double (2x) and a double macclaren. The first two were purchased for several hundred a piece and were worth 300-400 resale (each). Never had an issue. But we never left anything valuable in them

I know some people use stroller locks. I freaked out during the busy Christmas season because we parked ours by Small World at DLR and because the line was so long we waited about an hour (45 mins in line and then 15 on the ride). When we went to get the stroller, it was missing- totally gone. I had heart palpitations, lol. So we asked the nearby CM and they showed us that it was moved almost next to Rodger Rabbit. I would have never ever looked there. So if yours goes missing and its busy, ask a CM first. :D

At Universal we watched a woman leave a stroller loaded with stuff in the street around the corner from Minions. An employee came and moved it to the stroller parking with hundreds of others. I really wanted to be there to see her come out and find it gone.

I just saw Disney came out with a summer resort offer and now I'm doing some thinking. I'm not sure if we'll go yet. But I thought this might be worth asking as I'm sure we'll be using a stroller the first time we go, regardless if it's this year or in 2 years.

Do strollers ever get stolen? We have a fairly nice stroller. I wouldn't say it's "deluxe." It's a Graco stroller that fits with the click connect system. If we go in the summer, I'd like to bring it (vs. buying a cheapie umbrella stroller) because of the canopy to give my DS some shade.

I tend to be a worrier...do I need to be concerned that if I park my stroller somewhere to go on a ride, it won't be there when I come back? I would take personal belongings out, of course.

We would be driving, so no concerns about gate checking.

I've been to Disney so many times, but this suddenly feels like a whole new ballgame with the addition of a child. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
Do they get stolen? Yes, unfortunately, they do. We have a city mini stroller and I don't bring it to disney because I don't want to even think about it. We rent a stroller from an offsite company, so we still use a city mini, but if it is stolen it isn't our personal stroller from home.

We took our expensive conversion stroller (jogger, bike, ski $600)and never had any problems. Before our first trip I was a little worried about it but once we got there and saw the sea of strollers I thought, who has time to look through and steal mine when they could be having fun!

A friend of mine had hers stolen at Disney. She said security told her at the time hers was about the 10th that weekend. That said, it's a drop in the bucket compared with the quantity of strollers in the park.

It'll be fine. Just be smart about what you have in the stroller. No expensive electronics (Cameras, iPads, etc)... and if you do take them, bring them with you to the restaurant, ride, etc.

And yes, also something to identify your stroller too. We're planning on taking our Britax in April.

We once left our stroller legally parked near the front of AK when we realized that we would need a Disney Double rented stroller for the day. We returned hours later (like, at the end of our day) to find it missing. We asked a billion cast members and finally made a report to lost and found. For the remaineder of the week, we cried to guest relations about our stolen stroller and each day, they comped us a rental.

About a week after it went missing and a few days after we returned home, we received a call from lost and found. They had found our stroller but could not advise where. Luckily, we were returning the following week so we just had them hold it and we picked it up from Lost and Found during that trip.

Our theory, although never proven, is that a beleaguered parent "borrowed" it for the day or maybe one the way out to get a sleepy child back to the car.

Do strollers get stolen? Yes. But, the vast majority don't. So, bring you're stroller and just make sure you don't leave anything super valuable in it that may make it more tempting to steal.

Mine was stolen! It was a Macclaren and it was stolen outside of Backlot Tour. Made the phone calls, talked to people, filled out the paperwork and all I got was a few days of carrying my son around because I wasn't going to pay the outrageous amount to rent one.

Our best friends had their stroller stolen at Magic Kingdom. They went to guest services to report it and Disney said that it happens quite often. That being said, I have taken a stroller to Disney for the past 8+ years and have never had a problem. If you are concerned with it being a more valuable stroller than I would say purchase a cheaper one for the trip or rent from a local company.

On a side note, our family went to Dollywood over Thanksgiving break. We had just got off the train and were trying to locate our stroller but had no such luck. There was a stroller that looked somewhat similar to ours but it did not have the basket underneath or the hanging compartment on the back. We looked all over and we're not able to find it. We were so disappointed that we were not going to have a stroller for the duration of our trip in TN. As we were heading to the exit later that evening we noticed a family with a stroller that looked like ours so I went over to them and asked if I could check the basket underneath to see if it was our stuff. Sure enough this family had taken our stroller by accident and didn't even notice it. They were mortified and totally embarrassed.

I too was worried something would happen to it.
