Do Starwood Points Expire?

Can anyone tell me for sure - if I don't have any stays but continue to accrue points of my Starwood AmEx - will they expire? I'm trying to save my points for a trip to San Antonio in Summer 2005 - but haven't actually accrued any points from stays since October 2003.

I recently received my account balance in the mail. It said my membership would expire 2/29/04. I am Gold and had some points. I have a Dolphin stay coming up in July and a Sheraton Boston stay in April. I called spg and explained that I do have upcoming reservations and that I didn't want to lose my gold status or my points. She immediately changed my expiration date to 2/28/05 and all remained status quo. Thus, I would call spg and check about expiration of membership and points.
