Do single people need life insurance?

I'm in disagreement with my (almost 52 year old friend)who insists that a single person with no dependents doesn't need life insurance. Is she correct??

I'm single, no dependents. I don't have life ins right now, but I do believe you should have it. I left a job that had it as part of the benefits to a job that doesn't. I have just been lazy, and cheap. I guess if you already have paid for buriel expenses it would not be as imperative.

i think it depends on weather you anticipate always being single-life insurance is much less costly when bought at a younger age. other than that-as long as you have funds set aside for your "final arrangements" i don't see the need (and having processed requests for "county burial" i can def. say NO-ONE with a choice in the matter would want to go that route).

I just saw a show on this... if you are single, than no. You are better off taking that money and investing it into something that was along the lines of a roth ira..something that also helps you out with taxes

I would put aside a few dollars for a funeral(but you can do that with a savings account). I know you didn't post it, but the 1 type of insurance I think you should have is disability.

Having a term life insurance policy sufficient enough to cover burial expenses is a good idea. It is inexpensive and takes the burden off others. Unless you want to leave an inheritance to someone, it isn't necessary.

It also depends on how old your parents were/how they died. If they died before z age of something like cancer, you should get it as young as you can.

IMHO If you are single, have no dependents then all you need is policy large enough to pay for the funeral. Life insurance is help the ones left behind to keep the same standard of living.
