Do Priority Seating Reservations Open Up

Just curious if anyone has had much luck with changing their priority seating times as the date gets closer.

We had requested a PS for Park Fare 1990 dinner at 5pm on a Sat. we were there and the agent got us one for 7:10pm. That is too late for us due to medical concerns of some of the older people in our party. I'm just wondering, if I call every day, if I might be able to get an earlier one if someone cancels. There are 8 of us.

The same thing happened for our MVMCP ressie at LTT. Agent got 7pm instead of 5pm but there are 5 of us. Anyone know the chance of having something open up?

Thanks for any insight or hints on how to do this. Unfortunately I thought it was taken care of but ... things happen. Thanks for your help.

I just changed our LTT reservation from 6:20 to 5:35 on Friday for a party of 4 on 12/17. I was surprised I was able to make the change. Just on a whim I called and the earlier time was available. Based on this, I would keep trying. It certainly can't hurt. Good luck!

Yep, I agree that things do open up. I've had good luck trying to change things on the day of the PS. My advice would be to try early in the day if you go that route.

The only thing you can do is call often and ask. People change plans all the time and things open up. There is no way to really tell if something will open up or not, its just kinda the luck of the draw.

I asked the same question to the Disney Dining person I talked to... he told me that yes they do open up, and if staying at a Disney property there is a 'hotline' to Disney Dining. He said to try when you check in, because some people don't cancel till the last minute.

He also said some mistakes are made, or changes are made to existing ones, that could free things up.

I guess as they say "keep trying..." and good luck!

We have also on a couple occassions just arrive very early (up to a couple hours early) for our PS time, and asked to be put on the waiting list. If you don't mind staying close by you can become like a "walk in" customer. There is plenty to do in GF to have things to see while waiting, just leave yourself enough time from when you check in to be put on a list so that you won't have a medical concern for anyone in your party if you have a while to wait. You can also always pick up an emergency snack while waiting to keep things going well while you wait.

We picked up a reservation at Cindy's castle for breakfast last December. My husband persistently called every day or two and one day he hit the jackpot. I didn't think it could be done! I believe I would try to book the time you want and not tell them about your first PS until you've snagged the PS you want, though.

dcedwards,

Just keep trying!! I have been trying for two weeks off and on to change our Chef Mickey's dinner PS to an earlier time.
Now that MK is staying open later, we really wanted to see Spectro.

Today I decided to try again since we are now 5 days from leaving and guess what?
Got the earlier PS with no problem!!! AMAZING since just last week I was told they had nothing except a 9pm ;(

The CM I spoke with today told me that what happens is, all the PS's fill up full early on, then as folks vacation times near, they begin cancelling and rescheduling, then things open up again.

So..........keep on trying. You may get exactly what you wnat after all .

Just show up and they will get you in. These are not reservations just priorty seating so if you show when they first start serving dinner you will get right in or at least just as fast as someone with ps. Most restaurants have a nice bar to sit and have a drink in while you wait. WDW stopped taking reservations along time ago because of the no-shows.

Hey I just called yesterday and got a PS for breakfast for 4 at Cinderella's Royal Table for next Thursday. The gal on the phone chuckled at me for even asking and then was astonished that something was actually available.

You never know when somebody is going to cancel - so don't give up.
