Do people who own shares in Disney Stock get special benefits in the parks?

A friend was telling us last night that Disney stock owners get special perks pertaining to the parks. Does anyone know if this is true?
This person isn't always the most reliable source :sad2:

My DD has a couple of shares that were bought for her at birth. I've never heard anything...

No, there are no special perks... I used to be part of the mgmt. at the Disney Store when it was still owned by Disney and a portion of our checks could voluntarily go towards stock options. You didn't receive any special perks but some of our guests would take it upon themselves to be rude to me because they owned a share of Disney stock :rotfl: and they could "tell me what to do" since they owned a portion of the company :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Keep dreaming! :rotfl: :rotfl:

My girls have a bunch of Disney stocks also and they don't get anything either. I get more perks with my DVC membership.

We are stock holders too... bummer...

I wish disney would come up with some incentive like a "frequent flyer" club..

Even something so simple as one night free w/ every 20 paid nights. :sunny:

Thanks! I'll file the information this guy gave me with all the other untrue and useless bits of "fact" he loves to share.

Mind you...the same guy was explaining to me how Expedition Everest is the same ride as the Materhorn in Disneyland, and how he paid $75 a person to see Fantasmic.

I just smile and say, "How nice for you." :teeth:

Regretably not at this time.

Definately NOT.

and how he paid $75 a person to see Fantasmic.

I'd have made sure he got a seat for only $ 50! :rotfl2:

PS--does this guy hold a political office??? :lmao:

they do and do not......for disney stock they do not although you can attend the yearly shareholders meeting and they have been know, from what i was told, to give you a free ticket.....

however if you have euro disney stock they do have incentives of some sort although you have to have a certain number of shares or pay a membership fee to get them

someone correct me if i am wrong please

That's what I came in here to say. There is a program at Disneyland Paris -- I want to call it the Shareholders' Club, but don't mock me if I'm wrong -- in which owning a certain amount of stock will entitle you to particular discounts and such.

Some years ago being a stockholder got you into the the Magic Kingdom Club as a perk. MKC members received some nice perks like resort discounts (I think it was 30%), park and merch discounts. Then they started charging for MKC membership, then they did away with the program completely. Too bad.
Best idea is to have a family member become a CM :teeth: :earsboy:

We get dividends! DH says the yield is .90%. That's it. Also, bragging rights, you can tell everyone you own part of WDW.

That ended when places like One Share opened that made it easy to buy one share of Disney stock.

When I first bought my stock, you used to get the Magic Kingdom Club card free (I think). But once the number of share owners became too large, that all went away. Now the only thing we get is the joy of owning a small piece of Disney.

YES, that is correct and that was me ! The explanation given for the transformation to the pay to join was so many folks were buying just one share and getting great perks. They did away with it as they faded the Disney Credit Card to a Visa Disney Credit Card and attached some perks to it. Much more sense business wise for them.

Did he do one of the dessert buffets at Disneyland? Those do cost extra since they give you a special viewing spot/dessert.

Stock holders used to get discounts, but then it was shared on Net forums and put in guidebooks and people started buying just ONE stock to get the benefits and they took them away.

You got the Magic Kingdom Club membership and very nice room discounts. Ahh, the good ole days. ;)
