do people still trade pins in the themeparks with CMs?

Interesting! I would think people would snatch them up if I did trade them with a CM (I didn't trade any of those since I like them
Actually, I just looked on the pins. They all say "Official Pin Trading, 2008" so I do believe they are completely trade worthy.

Is there a better place in each park to do pin trading? We buy a few pins every trip, but my son would like to get a cast member pin. Apparently they don't sell certain pins but cast members have them to trade. I don't know if that is even the case, but thought I would ask some of the veteran pin traders.

There are books at guest services in each of the parks, also the out of the way store might have a better selection. My sister found a limited edition Lilo and Stitch at one of the jewelry stores on Main Street. I haven't ever seen another pin like that one.

Also, if staying at a resort, ask at the gift shops. I know POP had a special pin trading board that was available during certain times of the day. CSR also had a pinata full of pins that they'd pull out if you asked. Ask the Disney Vacation Club CMs too. I have had some good luck asking them to see their pins, and they usually have stickers, so if your son likes stickers, he may get some extras there!
Basically, if a CM has a lanyard or pocket lanyard with pins, your son can just ask them if he can look at their pins. If he likes one, he tells them he'd like to trade. They'll take it off and give it to him and your son gives them whatever pin he wants.
