So, about the dirty diaper trick - if someone wanted to steal your stroller, and there was a 'dirty' diaper in a plastic bag tied to it, wouldn't they just untie the bag, drop it, and take your stroller anyway? I'm just not sure how this would actually deter someone bent on stealing something. Now maybe if something gross was actually on the stroller itself.... (yuck!)

As I recall when reading that suggestion, I think it was done more to keep someone from accidently procuring your Disney rented stroller than to deter a thief. Obviosly if someone wants your high end stroller, and/or its contents, they'll do it anyway.

We need to find a way to personalize our strollers. We used organizers hanging off the back - that helped. No one could mistake ours. We had clean diapers and wipes back there, too - and the outside was mesh, so you could see it. I think more often it's a case of mistaken identity. We've also used a Minnie balloon tied to the handle to identify it (even if it gets moved, you can usually look around and find your balloons). We have handed off the balloons to kids on Main Street who were just coming in, to spread some pixie dust (because I hate driving with balloons in the car).

Double cheeseburger - that would embarrass the heck out of me, but mostly because growing up my parents were like that and now my IL's are like that. However, that's just if that person was in my party. If someone else chooses to do it, I dunno - that's their decision. I don't know if I think it's scamming or stealing, but it's definitely a frugal approach.

When we're on vacation, we are on vacation. I don't like having to worry about having enough spending money or food money. We don't go nuts either (each kid gets a souvenir budget and they have to think about what they want for a few days before they buy something - usually on the last or 2nd to last day). But we do love dining at Disney and won't hesitate to drop a large amount of money on the great food they have to offer. We tend to save money on the rooms, and go with more affordable options, because we don't spend much time there. It's just a matter of what's important to you. I know there are many families who would rather pack peanut butter sandwiches and apples and go on a gazillion rides all day. More power to them. They know what matters to them, and they aren't hurting anyone by doing it. If I lived nearby, I might be tempted to do the same.

But, for now, when we "do Disney" we do it "right" and really save up ahead of time so that we can be indulgent while we're there. But what's right for us isn't right for everyone, and I don't think that just because someone has to do it on a budget, they're wrong.

when you're in the pool, can you ACTUALLY tell which people are from "your resort" and someone from another one?

are you really paying that much attention to the other people rather than having a great time in the pool?

I just don't get it. How can you tell someone is pool hopping?

When you see people get on the monorail in wet swimsuits.

You are adding in an extra step that others are not. You are equating paying more to equalling "I'm better". The fact that someone paid more for a resort does not mean they in any way think they are better than other people. It does mean they should be the ones to get to use the amenities they paid for. If you didn't pay for it, you shouldn't use it.

I don't have my own pool at home. My kids love spending time at the pool so we are there in part for the amenities of the resort which include the pool. I care because it affects my ability to get full use of something I paid for.

I'm not taking any money away from anyone else, nor am I hurting the company in any way. If I wasn't in their pool I would just be in mine, so I'm not overcrowding. I guess I don't get the "concern."

Does anyone else think that if you are so strapped for money that you resort ot some of these tactics, you really should be putting your money somewhere (ie, bills) other than Disney.

I totally agree with you on this. I save X amount each month so I can have an enjoyable trip to WDW without having to resort to alot of the penny pinching things. It is not a vacation to me if I have to bring lunch into the park, share a meal because I can't afford it, etc. I have already been around with my DB and DSIL on this issue. When we started planning our eventual trip together in about 2.5 years she wanted to bring in meals to the parks. I tactfully told her I was not going to do that. I gave her a budget and she hopefully is saving for the trip. I will have no problem sitting down at a counter service restaurant eating my hot chicken strips while she and her family eat smashed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hot drinks if she doesn't save her money.

Huh?? Of course, you are part of the problem of overcrowding. You are overcrowding the pool you are using.

Plus, who really goes through the hassle of getting to another resort, finding a place to change, swimming, changing back into street clothes (or gadding about in your dry, then wet, swimsuit), then getting back "home"? What folderol!

Let me just clarify by saying I do not have issues with people (adults or kids) sharing meals.

I do have questions about those who make a "salad" at the free fixins' bar or "sharing" a stroller (with or without the other party's knowledge). I am talking about extremes & those who feel they shouldn't have to follow the rules.

I don't mean to sound cold hearted I just honestly don't understand how anyone could really enjoy their trip if they had to worry about setting up a meeting time & trying to find complete strangers to pass something off to or scoping out the strollers in front of an attraction & see which one you can "borrow" or buying someone elses USED mugs. As long as people aren't stealing or trying to get away with things they know they shouldn't I don't really care.

Not judging, just saying I don't understand. For me, I would rather stay 1 day less or at more economical resort than go to these extremes for what seems to be not alot of savings. But that's me.

You go girl! (or Guy?) My big point is WHY do people react so strongly to this? If you feel it is somehow unethical and a major breach of civil behavior, fine, don't do it. But, seriously if you get your dander up because you see a bathing suit on the monorail and it outrages you to think that person may be "pool hopping",when this affects you in no way, how do you manage in today's society with the real issues!

So it is OK for you to overcrowd a pool that you are not paying to keep up and not using the one that you are keeping up and you see nothing wrong with this? So can I come to you home and use your car, for my errands. I would be on the road with a car anyway so no more cars on the road; thus no problem!!

Oh - I forgot about the stroller swap. There is one amongst DISers that is a great idea, I think. It's my impression that it's far more comfortable for the babies/kids who do the stroller swap, versus using a rental, and it's maintained by a local person (or was?) to the area.

This is very different from finding someone to pass your rental stroller onto at the end of the day - but I don't see any major issue there, either. I guess I haven't given it much thought.

Since I'm a Cast Member, this issue is irrelavant, because I can technically swim wherever I'd like. But is everyone in the resort going to be swimming on the same day at the same time? (I certainly hope not). So where do you get off telling me where people can and cannot swim? They paid just as much to get to WDW as you did.

If I stay at the ASSp and pay $79/night and you stay at the GF and pay $500/night, you DID pay more than I did. Show me how we paid the same. If they are at a DVC staying on point, they can pool hop but not to certain pools and not at certain times.

What if I want to sleep in your room? Could I do that too? Since I am staying at another Disney resort there are the same number of people staying in the rooms. This is warped logic.

Disney is the one that states no pool hopping allowed - people here are just passing that rule along for those that are unaware or are aware and just think the rule doesn't apply to them.

Actually each resort and room type is a different size my friend. Either way, they're not hurting anyone, nor are t hey taking money or experience away from anyone. Get off their backs. I will continue to swim where I like, thank you.

Ummmmm..... No they didn't. Everyone pays equal park admission. Everyone does not pay equal hotel rates. Are you purposely being difficult about this or do you really not get it? I'm staying at the Poly on my next trip. With tax the room is close to $500. Someone else is staying at the All Stars during the same time. They are paying around $100 a night. One of the things I'm paying for is use of the pool. The nicer pools are one of the ammenities of a deluxe resort. I want a lounge chair and a pool that's at no more than capacity (which is based on the size of the resort). Yes, it does matter. If you want a better resort with a better pool, pay for it. Otherwise, it's stealing.
