We were talking at work today about travel, and all these exotic trips. I mentioned Disney was my favorite vacation spot! Someone said it was because I've never been out of the country, I said I'd been snorkeling in Mexico, and she about freaked! She was like "you liked Disney World better than that!?" :crazy2: Ummm....yeah........! :hyper: They just don't get it. :sad2:

It used to bother me when people said things like that to me, but now, I just think "great, don't go, less crowds for me to deal with!":rotfl2:

I was lucky enought to get to study for a year in Europe and got to travel a lot - Japan, China, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Mexico, Guatamala, - and guess what?! My favorite vacation destination is WDW! People have horrible attitudes about it. It's like they think that because I love WDW I would have no appreciation for any other place on earth - or in the U.S. I've learned to ignore the "What? You're going there again?"

We lived in Germany for 2 years and we traveled all over Europe and WDW is definitely our favorite spot. Whenever we tell our friends that they just don't get it. :confused3 but like Crazy Kanga said less crowds for me to deal with!

A lot of folks don't understand, but it does not bother me at all. WDW is #1 for me.

my mom once ina while might say "lets take a vacation". i immediately say "disney". She asks "dont you ever want to go somewhere different?" I shrugs and say "sure, but if i can go to disney, id rather!"

We never go on vacations much anyway lol.

I have an old high school teacher who im very close with who hates WDW. He's never BEEN there so he hates it. The only thing disney he likes is Stitch. He's 36 years old, and obsessed with Stitch its terrifying. So, to pay him back for constantly insulting WDW (which is completely unjustified!) I naturally hate Stitch lol. We argue CONSTANTLY.

We've talked it over and decided in a couple of years I'm getting him to WDW along with some other teachers and alumni. And if he doesnt like it even after that, fine, he has a reason to say so. But right now it's bogus man!

After going to WDW with Dsis & her family (and other members of my family) last year, and talking about upcoming trip this year (no other members of my family) my Dsis likes to say "I am soooo done with that place.....we saw EVERYTHING"

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I tell her that I'm glad she's done with it, and now I don't have to go with her again! I'll take her kids gladly...but I can do WDW without her!

Oh my gosh, don't even get me started. You get criticized for not leaving your country .... I get told I should not spend my canadian dollars on a place I've been to 3 times already!

Alot of my fellow Canadians( who have never been to WDW ) feel that it should be done one time only because they think that WDW consists of MK only. So basically, they think that I have been visiting the same park over and over during my whole vacation time!!!! Even my DBIL, who by the way is even more nuts about WDw than I am ( an avid WDCC collector, keeps saying that I started his addiction) up until 2002, thought that WDW consisted of MK and Epcot only!

I don't even bother sharing my WDW plans and photos when I come back, I hate that smirk they have on their face when they look at a picture of me with Chip N Dale....and have no clue who they are!!1

Most of my family understands ( a few don't, but so what!), It's my co-workers that give me such a hard time. I have lived and visited all over the country, Canada & Mexico, but I would rather go to WDW (and a side trip to southern FL & the Keys) over anywhere else! One co-worker says shes been to DL and that's enough...WDW is 100 times the size of DL!!! My DH gets upset because of the dumb things people do when they go, like just flying by the seat of their pants and not taking HIS advice, LOL!!! We know one couple that has been to WDW 4 times and NEVER seen any of the fireworks shows!?

I have no idea why people get so bent out of shape when you tell them you are going to WDW again. For example, I have an uncle who goes to the same beach house with his family year after year. No one bothers him about this. But just this last week my mom was asking me if I am ever going to go anywhere else and why am I so obsessed with WDW. I'm a fairly well traveled person; I've been to Europe three times and to all but two of the states, Canada and Mexico. I love WDW and I get two weeks of vacation a year. I think I'll spend my time there!

I have friends who have been to Disney with us a few times, now when they book they keep trying other things when really thry want to go to DW -cruise (not Disney) week at the beach, New York, Vagas and then DW. Every time after they have booked shorten DW time with alternative I have to listen to them moaning that they can't fit everything into their shortened stay at DW.
I can't understand it, if they want to go to DW just go :rotfl2: stop trying to look like your doing other things then moan about missing DW. :confused3

We hear it all the time. The way we figure it people are just jealous or the just don't get the magic, either way it's their problem! We Love to be there and would rather be there than any place else. ::MickeyMo

People give me a hard time about my Disney obsession too! Does not bother me one bit. They just don't get the magic!

I don't hear it as much as I used to because people are tired of my answer! I love it because I can go there and do nothing but what I want to do. I'm not into the characters. I'm really not an MK kind of person, although I do go there and enjoy myself every now and then. I love Epcot, and I love the Animal Kingdom, and I very rarely go to Disney Studios. I enjoy the resorts, the restaurants, the shopping and the fact that I'm more than a thousand miles away from my office. DH and I go there for "adult time" so that we can relax and be kids again!

Of course, I work with a few "Disney People", so that may make a difference!

I just got a little of that last night form friends who think vacations should be all about intellectual & cultural pursuits......

I just smile & say - been there, done that. Now I prefer my Relaxing, Magical trips to WDW.

The place makes us SMILE . What more can you ask of a vacation?

"Do people not understand why you love WDW?"

:rotfl2: My first response was "I'm not sure *I* understand why I love WDW!!"

Its hard to describe the 'feeling', its hard to describe the 'knowing' I'm going to go to WDW, it may be over 150 days to go, but by gosh and by golly, I'm going to go to my "happy" place! lucky for me, dh and dd want to come too!!

I love WDW because it gives me a sense of removal from the world. It is kind of magical. I have a very stressful job and I NEED to escape at least once a year. We go to different places as well, but none compare to the fun of WDW.

Most people who don't understand have never been. We took my MIL last December and now she's in love with the place just like my husband and I are. She can't wait to go back! :wizard:
