Do people even check regular prices before buying BF "deals?"

I've been watching the Amazon BF deals pretty much all day long and I'm amazed at the people snatching up the "sale" items. Yes, some things are a good deal but others are not anything special. Earlier today I was checking ahead to what was coming up later in the day. I saw the description for the Cuisinart pot with lid (currently on the BF deals). I did a search on the description and found the pot. Early today the price was $19.99. I've look at these pots before, so I knew this was what Amazon usually charges for it. So it finally reaches it's time to become the BF lightning deal and what is the special BF sale price? It's $19.99 and it's now sold out.

I watched a similar "sale" this morning when I saw the Actiontec MegaPlug 200 Mbps AV Powerline Ethernet Adapter and 4-Port Hub Kit coming up soon. I did some research and saw the Amazon price was normally $92. So what was the great sale price? $89.99. Wow! What AMAZING savings! It also sold out in a matter of minutes.

The only great deal that I managed to snag online today (that I wanted) was the Vampire Diaries Season 1 DVD set for $12.99. That was truly a great price.

WOW THat is a good deal!! I would have snagged that one too!

I do!! I am especially careful with Amazons sale prices because they will mark something on "sale" and only take off 50 cents (on occasion) that is not truly a sale to me..:confused3 Sometimes it is a penny! No Joke! But I guess that makes it a sale price.....I guess it is a buyer beware situation.....I got a few good DVD/PSP deals today too :) Although I am bummed about one though..didnt pay attention to the fact it did not have free shipping so with shipping it is up at normal price..oh well that was the only "slip" that I had :) Happy Shopping!!

I look! I got the Dark Knight blu-ray for my brother (so I didn't have to go to Walmart :lmao: in the middle of the night) for $4.99 instead of $12.99, and the Toshiba laptop for $329 instead of $$449.

Well, I think of it this way. I am also "skipping" the sales tax in my state so for less aggravation and less money (even if it is a $1) works for me.

Sometimes, the convenience is worth not saving the money.

So ordering online and getting free shipping costs as little as hitting the mall and dealing with the traffic and the weather and the crowds.

I do.. some of the amazon deals have not been a great deal. I did find enough to place 13 order though.

That made me LOL!

FYI, the website camelcamelcamel.com lets you see past Amazon prices. So, you can see if it's truly a good deal or not.

I buy lots of stuff on Amazon, even mundane things like diapers, wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. I have an Amazon Mom membership which gives me free Prime shipping.

I notice that, too, on many items. I did get the $9.99 Cooking Mama 3, I was happy with that!

Yeah, some of them aren't great deals, but some of them are. I got the Toshiba laptop too and was going to get the Cooking Mama 3 for the DS but didn't want to buy anything else or pay for shipping so let that one go.

I wish I wasn't so addicted to checking for the next deal! :rotfl:

Google "Amazon Mom". It's free, and will give you free Prime shipping for the next 3 months.

LOL! I thought I was bad with 6 orders in 6 days (3 just yesterday). I do wonder about the Amazon Prime thing though, with all these packages going out within a short time frame (within the same day), how are they not losing serious money on shipping? Not that I care -- I'm enjoying the bargains :) BTW - I share my mother in laws account and she pays for prime. We have placed 13 orders in the last 30 days and 52 orders in the last 6 months and 102 orders in 2010 - with an $80 fee thats less than 80 cents a shipment (and we're not done yet for the year!)

I went online looking for a Keurig for Mom and Dad. Kohls.com had their BF ad online with a $99 brewer up til 11:30. Then when the 12am hit, the "revised" ad had only the $139 and $199. I was able to go into my history and find it again, but just another retail trick to get the higher ticket items sold, and some might think they're getting a deal. (On Keurig site, the prices were exactly the same.) So with my brewer in my cart, I did a google search for Keurig promo codes and found 20% off, and lots of sites are offering free shipping. That strategy worked for disneystore.com, kohls.com, nike.com. I've probably saved about $60 for the few things I was looking for.

I tend to set a price or a percent-off that I'm shooting for and stick to that. This year, I haven't been all that impressed with Amazon's offerings; in years past I really loaded up on DVDs and other smaller gifts from their hourly offerings but there just hasn't been much of interest this year. I did get the three Wii games I was looking for at 40-50% off of regular prices, a baby doll for 20% off regular price, and Phantom on DVD for $4 to bump one order up to the free shipping threshold, but all in all I've found less I want to order from them this year and on several items the local Kmart had better prices (DVDs and DS games).

We are amazed by that too! I ordered a CD in my car, stuck in traffic, Wed afternoon, for $5.99. Thursday was a holiday, and it showed up at my house yesterday, UPS overnight! Are they nuts? Monday really would have been just fine with me LOL.

I was able to get my son a Stinky the Garbage Truck for $39.99. That is $10 cheaper than I've seen it at stores around here. I didn't have to pay shipping, so it was worth it to save. But I do agree that not everything is the best deal. I found a Leapster game on sale for $10, but the shipping was going to be $10 for a little game. That to me was not worth it. I could find the game on sale around here for less than $20.
