Do paid concierge upgrades at YC ever happen?

What I mean is has anyone ever arrived at YC and been offered to upgrade to concierge for a price? We currently have waterview ressies at YC for early December and I would love to stay concierge but I'm afraid DH would keel over at the price if we booked it now. Do good AP rates ever come out for concierge or is a check-in offer better? Any thoughts?

I'm not sure about special upgrade costs when you actually check-in. BUT, I do know that I have seen Annual Pass rates available on the concierge level at the YC/BC. I've seen discounts of 35-40%. That would be a great savings.

We had a standard room at BC last May and were offered an upgrade to Concierge for a discount of - $100 more per night. I declined! While I have stayed Concierge at AKL, Poly and S/D it wasn't worth the additional $100 per night on that trip. It was 3 "moms" on a weekend away so we had plans for dinner each night and really no need for breakfast - had muffins etc in the room. On a family trip I would consider it but IMHO $100 per night additional was steep for a "discount".

We wre offered the same $100 upgrade at the BC in March of 2001. We declined as it was a quick one night trip.

In July of 2001, during the July 4th week, we had a reservation for a standard room at the YC.

When we checked in, no standard rooms or waterview rooms were available, so they offered to put us in concierge at the same price for one night, and then switch us to a standard room the next day.

We declined because we didn't want to have to switch rooms, so.... they offered us concierge for the whole stay, at the price we were paying for our standard room!

I know this was a unique situation, and one I will probably never encounter again, but it was fun while it lasted!

In general though, the YC often upgrades you to a better room if the situation allows.
