In a Facebook group I just noticed someone left behind a bottle of alcohol in a ice room along with other leftover snacks. I know people want to be nice and leave things for others to use instead of packing/throwing but things that are age restricted like alcohol should not be left.

Not only is it dangerous for someone underage who gets their hands on it but its also likely a big liability for you if something happens and Disney pulls up the video footage to see who left the item to start with.

My instant reaction is that it seems far fetched that teenagers would stumble into a laundry room where booze has been left behind (even less likely they'd be monitoring FB for posts), drum up the nerve to take it, smuggle it back to their hotel room without a parent's knowledge, and proceed to secretly get hammered over the course of their trip.

And if someone actually sees items left in public, chooses to take it, and keeps it quiet from mom & dad the entire time, there's probably a bigger issue at play. An issue that won't be solved by shutting down the good samaritans.

But I'm listening if someone wants to argue otherwise.

Someone left a half a six pack of hard cider and some waters on that stupid empty desk near the BR elevators. I thought I won the lotto.
We like that desk. It carries great symbolism, LOL. It reminds us that we don't have to walk a gauntlet past a DVC kiosk just to get to the elevator. While they never hard-sell, I think they are up to 5 people at the one in the Poly lobby, and there were 3 CM's at the desk in the (very small) VGF lobby the other day. Empty desk = peaceful, quiet lobby. I'm glad the desk in the main WL lobby is stuck back by the spring (like the one in the main GF lobby).

I've seen mousekeeping and/or maintenance swoop in pretty quickly and take alcohol that's left in public areas. Not sure if they're acting in an official capacity or taking it for personal consumption. Don't really care. When we check-out we just leave ours in the room with a note for housekeeping to help themselves.

So you're saying they got to it before you more than once? Wow.
I wasn't trying to get to it -- we had our own. It was that I noticed the beverages in the hallway or ice machine area while walking to the food court to fill our mugs in the morning and by the time I came back, CMs were in the process of taking the beverages from the pile of stuff. I remember it happening twice...maybe 3 times that I witnessed. I'm sure it happens every day.

You won me over at ‘teenagers stumbling into a laundry room’.

20+ years of owning DVC ya think I would have found free Booze. I will be at GF-RS starting July 19 should arrive around 4. For the record I would make my teenage son carry it up for me. I would also let him drink it and leave him in the throwing up as we go out to Dinner..... For the record I know there are real issues out there and lets hope few and far between that it this was actually an issue at Disney and Disney decides to ask people not to.

Fb is filled with groups that promote this, including some dedicated to passing it on.

I guess I'm weird and not purposely wanting to be wasteful, but I would not pick up anything in the hall or laundry room, particularly not some of the half used stuff people post. Actually saw someone post their opened milk and PB. Gross.

I'd rather people coordinate alcohol pickups rather than just setting it out.
