Do non-activated AP's expire?I

I was thinking of buying AP's for a possible upcoming trip in June. I am not positive that we will be going in June, but do know we will be going within the next 18 months. My question is...do non-activated AP's have an expiration date. I want to buy them as gifts for my kids. Thanks!!!
