Do never used tickets expire

I have an upcoming trip. One person is questionable. In order to get this person fastpasses when our window opens, she needs a ticket. If she never uses her ticket, does it have an expiration? We don't mind paying for a ticket now, if she can use the ticket at any point down the road...because I know she will go with us at some point.

Yes, new tickets now expire.

They generally expire within 1.5 to 2 years from purchase.
But, even if a ticket is allowed to expire, unused, the guest can use that ticket's original value to help pay for a NEW valid ticket at such time as the guest returns to WDW in the future.

Also, if some one were to do this, would they be able to make 60/30 day fp? Ot would they have to get the tickets when they arrive, and need to wait until then for fp?

1. Never-used but "expired" tickets' value should always be eligible to be used in the purchase of newer tickets.
2. Nobody knows yet. But, it would appear to be very unlikely that "expired" tickets could be used to book FP in advance.
