Do most people still confirm reservations?

Strange question I know but with everything being clearly documented electronically (confirmation emails, mobile Travel apps, etc), is it still necessary to call hotels to confirm reservations these days?

I'm pretty sure I never did for our other two trips but maybe I should have... just in case. We leave in a week today so contemplating whether or not I should. Or perhaps I'm just looking for things to do to quench my Disney thirst because I'm so dang impatient for this trip! :woohoo:

Do you still call to confirm?

I always do. It only takes a few minutes, and then I don't have to worry about it. That is also when I make my requests, like being on the top floor, etc.

After just having a trip with a problem losing our reservation, we've started doing this again.

I always do just in case. We've gotten burned in the past. I also like to let them know if we will be arriving later (like after 10pm) just in case. :thumbsup2

For our last trip we received email confirmations from the hotel, the car service and all our dining reservations, so no...I didn't call to confirm anything. I did bring print outs of the confirmations. If I didn't have those, then yes, I would call.

I don't call to confirm, because I always have an email confirmation of reservations. I only call hotels if I'm coming in at a very late time.

Yes I leave nothing to chance. I just want to make sure that nothing goes wrong on vacation because I didn't follow up with something. Especially if it is something I paid money for. There have been a few times where a reservation hadn't gone through or the company I was dealing with gave me some great advice that I hadn't previously known. For a peace of mind I say follow up.

With all the planning, I always call beforehand to make sure the hotel reservations & any other dining & other reservations are lined up. I always keep on a piece of paper the printouts of confirmations & I write down any other confirmation numbers (dining, etc).

On our July trip, I checked in & confirmed with the front desk all reservations & they couldn't find our GCH cabana reservation. But when I gave my confirmation number, they found it! I almost had a heart attack!

I agree with the above posters, if you are feeling like you should then by all means DO IT!!! We booked our Christmas trip in May of this year and then I added one day to our stay at the end in July. For some reason I never received a confirmation with the new departure date:confused3. I called the first of this month because it just kept bothering me. Good thing I did, while the WTD had the extended day in their system, the DLH showed us leaving on the original departure day :scratchin and of course there now were not any rooms available for our room type . I was on the phone with a lead for approximately 2 hours that day trying to straighten things out so I'm glad I did this before hand and not on arrival. I will make sure that I have the new confirmation with me for check in just in case (and I'll probably call again just before we leave).

**Just a side note, the CM I spoke with was VERY GOOD at taking care of the problems and I thought she went above and beyond to take care of the issue even though it did take so long. So gold star to the Walt Disney Travel Company!!!!pixiedust:

Thanks everyone. Even though I have printouts of all the reservations, I did call to confirm and everything was just fine.

SEVEN days today :cool1:

I usually call too, if only to make a request for something. I just got off the phone in fact. Since this is a solo trip, I am hoping for a King sized bed...it will be nice not to have to share with the dogs or the DH!
