Do LL Bean backpacks go on sale?

I also bought them last Oct/Nov when they went on sale. My girls love them and I love the fact that I will not have to replace them any time soon. I was growing very tired of buying ones that I had to replace after 6 or 8 mths.
I have great confidence in these.

My kids have been using LL Bean backpacks for over 10 years. They don't wear out. Few years back, I bought a winter jacket at their outlet, but when I got home, found that the zipper sticks a bit. So the jacket sat in the closet and didn't get a lot of wear. About 2 years later, I was at the outlet again talking with a sales lady and mentioned the sticky zipper. She told me to bring it back and gave me a brand new jacket. I didn't have a receipt, the jacket was about 2 years old and she just took my word. That's customer service

This is true. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. No matter when you bought the product, if it does not meet your expectations (e.g. the zipper breaks after 5 years), they will replace it. I seem to remember they even pay the shipping back to them.

Dumb question on this.

DD has two LLBean backpacks. Can you wash them in the washing machine. I am searching for tags and can't locate them.

Also, I didn't see any light up backpacks like last year (but I could just be missing things).

Yes, they do go on sale, however not in the months before school starts. A few months back, several discontinued colors were on sale, and even the light-up styles. I bought DD8, DS6, and my nephew (8) new ones, and had them monogrammed for a steal. The patterns were cool ~ aqua butterflies for DD, and blue camo tracks/ olive camo tracks for the boys. They even had matching lunchboxes on sale, so I bought them also. The styles/colors you are seeing on the site now will not go on sale for many months.

My local LL Bean store does put them on sale. In fact I should check this week and see if there are some on clearance.

They do go on sale. Last October, their original bookpacks were $11.99 shipped and the deluxe bookpacks were $19.99. Not all colors/prints were available though, and of course I ended up picking two that were too girly for my boys. No matter, I put them on ebay and was able to get my money back and a little extra for my time.

If you don't absolutely have to have the backpack before school starts I'd wait until mid to late fall to see if they put them on sale again.

That's what I recall too - and I heard it here first! It was a very short term sale and they were like 65% off - plus I googled and found a free shipping code.

I ended up buying two Aloha print backpacks but DD didn't like the pink and green one since her best friend has the same one (sigh) and DH thought the blue Aloha print was too feminine for DS (DS liked it). So we did a swap - DD took the blue, I took the pink and green and DS gets my solid black one. The black one is not LLBean but he gets a ride to school and most books stay in his classroom (Special Ed).

Yes, I have done that many times, even with less-well-made backpacks. I use Dawn instead of Tide and gentle cycle with cold water. I line-dry them upside down because they do retain water.
