Do Leopards Change Their Spots?

They can if the leopard learns what is wrong with his/her spots and what he/she has to do to change them.

I agree. I've seen radical changes in people. Thankfully.

My dad was a cheater, and he changed. I know and love many addicts that are in recovery, also.

My dad, too. It was mostly him, but also partly the combination of him and my mom. They were not well suited to each other, but he thought he was stuck because of us kids. Thank goodness he got caught and kicked out. Now both he and my mom have been with more compatible partners for almost 40 years. Both my step parents have been great influences on my life, too.

I know a leopard that completely, totally changed his spots - and has lived by that change for years. It took a willingness to admit error, a lot of self-reflection, and a completely different environment to exist in, but in a caring and determined individual, it can absolutely happen.

For those in denial of the problem - I'd have to vote no.

Certain people are controlling and manipulative and I think it's hard to have a relationship with them as things will never change that.

That is a spot that never changes. Why? Because it works for them. Would you change if you were always getting what you wanted?

So...I guess I have the answer to my question, my gut feeling was that no, people don't change the way they are, nor will certain people ever. I had that confirmed for me today.

Controlling and manipulative are not really "spots". Those are character issues or personality. In the case of taking about it like an animal it is their "temperment".

"Spots" are behaviors.
