Do kids ever get board at the play area on board?

Well, as the elevators and stairwells have never, to my knowledge, been advertised by Disney as a hot spot for kids' recreational activities, I can only presume that their allure is stronger at times than that of the activities organized for the pleasure of pre-teen passengers. That sounds like bored kids to me.....

Sure. Hey, its possible for a teenager to be "bored" at Universal Studios while riding a roller coaster - its part of their nature.

The clubs and the labs have a lot of "organized activity" time where they play games or do crafts or listen to stories. My son, for instance, has never been a good story listener. There are also a few activities that are "gender centric" which if your kid is someone who doesn't want to do "girl stuff" DoSiDo with Snow White isn't going over big.

Most people who post say their children loved the clubs. I'm in the minority here.

Yes, our 7 year-old DD was bored. (We first cruised 3 years ago.) She was cooperative about attending at night, whenever DH and I went to the nightclub. However she preferred being with us during the day.

She was 9 when we sailed last summer, and had sign-out privileges. It worked much better. There were only one or two activities that appealed to her, and she was able to come and go as she pleased. (She had to go back to our stateroom when she left, or stay with us. We had walkie-talkies.)

My now 8 yr old loves the club....Now he is excited about the going to the Lab for the first time...never bored, he likes the camp atmosphere and the environment...

In a nutshell, YES. And some don't. I think it really depends on the kid.

When my 9 y/o dd got bored, she just found something else to do, like swim, play in the arcade or just walk around the ship with her friends. I noticed the boredom set in around "movie" time, or any other activities that she just wasn't interested in. We made a point to not push the club too much on her, and she felt better knowing that she didn't HAVE to be in there if she didn't want to. Basically, sometimes she had a lot of fun in there, and other times she didn't. It's just my opinion, but I think they need to restructure some of the activities, including eliminating not all but some of the movie and story time, and maybe add some stuff to do that is a little more geared toward kids on the energetic side. :jumping1:
