Do I Really Need to Prepurchase a Picnic Meal for WOC?

My DBF and I are headed to DCA in Mid July (Mid-Week). We really want to see the WOC show, we are planning to watch the later show (I believe it's 10:15).

My question is, do we really need to preorder a WOC picnic meal?

If we just get a fastpass, are we going to be waiting in a huge line?

Are the WOC picnics good? I don't think they look that great but I may be wrong...

Please let me know :)

Cheers

We saw WOC just this past Saturday. We got our FP for the blue section for the 9:00 PM show, then returned to the area just after 8:15 to get a good spot. We waited the 45 minutes until the show started and had a great view from the bridge. I don't know what the crowds will be like in July, but I heard that the 10:15 show is a lot less crowded. I think if you be okay if you show up at the beginning of the return time to claim your spot. Good luck!

I have done both the fastpass and the picnic meal, and I would recommend the picnic meal. You give up a lot of valuable morning park time to get the fastpass, and to me it is worth the cost of the meal to avoid that. I don't think the meals themselves are any good, I chose a kids meal so I could eat the goldfish and apple slices. :teeth:

For the second show you don't need to give up any park time to get the FP. We just strolled up in the afternoon (around 2pm) and got our fastpasses. No line at all. We showed up about a half hour before our return time (we had yellow, by the GRR). There was a HUGE line, but getting there early meant being able to be at the very front of it. They walk the whole line over, and we got the front by the rail pretty easy. Just make sure you have those fastpasses ready to go. It's a great show, I'm glad we did the second showing too. Much easier.

In my opinion no. We liked getting the fast passes first thing and then heading to soarin. You will end up waiting at some point regardless of what you choose. But it is SO worth it.

I purchased the picnic meal also and thought it was a value. I didnt think the food was too bad.:confused3 If I do WOC again, I will do picnic meal again. To answer your question about buying in advance. NO, you dont have to purchase it in advance. You can go up to the window and purchase the picnic meals also. Last summer there were several people purchasing meals as walk-ups. :)

We bought the WOC picnic when we went in May. The food was good. We had a Met. Vegetarian, All-AMerican (or whatever the cold chicken is called!) and the kids had the chicken and PB&J. The fastpasses, from what I gather, are a little better than the "free" fastpasses.

You run a risk with getting to the Fastpass machine first thing at opening at that time of year. If you're cool with the risk, than by all means, go for it.

We bought our picnic in park and I do no recommend it. I was under the assumption that they would hold our food until we wanted it like they do when you order online. Wrong! You have to take it right then. So we had our picnic at like 11:00 am. It was good, but would have been better in the afternoon. If you want to do this, do it online. It would save a lot of headache!
