Hi, we are staying at the Yacht club for the first time. :flower1: I am trying to figure out if i need to bring a pool float for DD 17 months or if the Yacht club will have a float with the seat in the bottom that she could use. Also, i see that the pool is huge and has different areas... will they let me use that float for areas other than the lazy river? I found some pics of the floats for adults, but i did not see anything for toddlers/babies. thank you!

They are also picky about floats. No sun shades, no massive blow up floats. At one point in time I was told only Coast Guard approved floats could be used.

ETA: If the float in anyway obscures the lifeguards' view of your child's face or their view of other swimmers it won't be allowed.

But the pools do have life jackets at the pool for use. I don't know how many of each size they have though. There's a really nice sandy 0 entry area at Stormalong baby so baby will be able to toddle into the water on their own.

we tried the pop up infant float but it was not very buoyant so we stopped using it. i wanted to get something that would keep her from feeding herself the water in handfuls. i'm not sure how happy she will be in an infant life jacket rather than a blow up float. At GF we saw another infant in a blow up whale and it's tail came up over the baby to be a sun shade. i thought of getting that but it would technically block the view so we may go with one that doesnt have that. i hope she doesnt eat the sand but atleast she can toddle around the sand pool.

Were lifeguards on duty? If it was one of the quiet pools with no lifeguard that is probably how they got away with it. But we saw some very irate parents at the feature pool at POR who were told by the lifeguard they couldn't use the infant float they brought unless the removed the sunshade. They've really been stepping up enforcing the rules since the drownings at Pop and the cruise ship.

We used a float like that for our daughter last May. She was 10 months at the time. We brought it with us as Disney doesn't provide any thing like that...just life jackets. We didn't have any issues really except when I took DD out to change her diaper, the lifeguard told my husband he had to remove the float from the water. DH stayed in the water and we left the float there because I was going to change DD and bring her right back in the water. DH removed the float until I brought her back. No big deal. I think they let you use them because the life jackets they provide were all too big for DD at the time. This was at AoA and prior to the drowning that happened last year so policies could have changed.

I would try and find one that is clear without a sunshade and pack it as it won't take up much room. If you can use it your all set and if not at least it doesn't take up much room and you will have it for future use. There are a few great places for kids to toddle around in the main pool and a nice kiddie area as well so you will have a good time with your DD.

We were at BC in June and had a small float with a bottom in it so our 10 month old could sit in it, the lifeguards said we couldn't use it at all. No floats allowed but noodles and the tubes they provide at storm along bay. Lifeguard said only coast guard approved floats, whatever that means. Our baby was happy just sitting in the shallow sand area of the kids pool, gave him a small car and bucket and he played great all day in the water.

We brought my son's bubble that he uses at swim lessons at the ymca. It's the foam squares you wear on your back. Lifeguards didn't have a problem with it. I think every pool at disney has adult and child life jackets you can use free of charge. Those puddle jumpers that kids wear are coast guard approved. We brought that on our trip when our son was 2.
