Do I need Money??

I am staying at a moderate, so I can get 1000 credit if I secure with a credit card, right? Do I have to have 1000 available credit on the CC to do this? Do they charge your purchases right away to the credit card or do they just keep a running total, then you pay at the end of your stay? If they just keep a running total, can you pay in cash or check when you check out? Are they good for most counter services in Disney?

I just got back two nights ago from the AKL and was a little upset. They asked me at check in if I wanted to put a credit card on file and then told me I had a $1500.00 credit limit. I told them that if I used it, (which I wasn't planning to) I would pay the balance before I left and I did not want my credit card charged. They said no problem. I didn't use the room key to charge until the day before we left when I went to DTD and bought a little more than I meant to . Anyway I went down early the next morning and told them I wanted to pay it off using traveler's checks, but was informed they had already charged my VISA card. They offered to credit the amount back to my card, if I wanted to pay with traveler's checks, but I told them no. It wasn't that much (only $150.00 or so) but I had expressly told them that if I had to use my room key that I would pay it before I left and DID NOT want my CC charged.

Unless at check in you ask not to have express check out or if you go down to the desk the night before, they will be charging you credit card during the very early morning hours of the day you check out. So if you want to make sure they don't charge you card, make sure you settle up with the front desk before you go to your room at night.

If you put down a credit card for charging, can you pay off your charges the night before check out by paying with a check or must you pay it off with your credit card or cash? Does anyplace except checks at Disney or just the resort?

I also want to know, plus do they hold any amount on your card until check out?

I use the room charge for most things, but always have cash on me for kiosks and incidentals... I just use the ATMS isf I run out though. I'd rather pay the service charge on vacation and just get out $100 at a time than worry about keeping track of a big wad of cash in the parks or in my room.

FYI, if you prefer to pay by cash but don't want to carry it, you can "apply" cash at checkin to your bill and than charge against it on your room key.

Thanks for this info!! We didn't know that!! We only have one credit card with a $0 balance ( - we've worked really hard for this) and we only like to pay in cash, etc.!

Also, I didn't know that you could charge food from the parks to your room key.....(except for those smaller carts, etc.) that will make things a lot easier for us!!

You do not have to have the balance put on your credit card. You can pay off your balance with any means Disney accepts. We used disney dollars one time. They were fine with it.

Yes, you sure can! Just because you hold it on the CC, doesn't mean that is how you have to pay it off. Just make sure to pay it off before checkout, because if they don't hear otherwise, it will go to the CC for express checkout on your checkout day. No, they do not put a hold on your CC. Yes, some places do accept checks, however all checks, regardless of amount must be manually called in and verified, so if you are making small purchases, it really isn't worth it. Charge it to the room and pay with a check the night before checkout. Or, if you prefer, get a copy of your charges everynight so you won't accidently go over your amount and be stuck somewhere and pay nightly, so there won't be any surprises at the end. No restaurants on Disney property accept payment by check.

The little stand next to the Pagoda in Japan where you get the shaved ice (and Kirin beer) takes cash only. That's an important tip if you have kids who want the snow cone.

and what is this "cash" everyone keeps talking about? Actually, the only thing I used cash for was tipping. Everything else either went on the room key or my credit card directly.
