I was reading in The Unofficial Guide to DL (Sehlinger) that "the sound volume for Hyperion Theater productions would give heavy-metal rock concerts a good run for the money."

At the very few rock concerts I've attended, I had to use cotton in my ears to mute the sound to a bearable level (seriously...without the cotton, it HURT my ears).

So, those of you who've seen Aladdin, should I bring cotton for my sensitive ears just in case?

It was loud but certainly not uncomfortable loud.........no where near as loud as a rock concert.

I've been to both, Aladdin and concerts, and IMO you won't need earplugs. You know that ringing in your ears you get at concerts? That won't happen. At least it didn't happen to DH and I on all the times we watched it. If you are apprehensive about it, go ahead and pack 'em just in case ;)

Whew! Sounds like I was worried over nothing.

Thanks for the first hand experience/advice, Kiwi & Pocahontas!:goodvibes

Its never seem overly loud to me, and I've never left with my ears ringing like I do from concerts.

I agree - nowhere near as loud as a rock concert. There are a few portions that are louder than others, like the rumbling of the Cave of Wonders. Those parts are just a minute or two in length. The theater does have a very good sound system. I think it rivals, and even surpasses, some big stage theaters in LA. A good comparison is with a large movie theater. If you are ok with a loud action movie, Aladdin should be ok.

It's more comparable to the sound level in a Broadway show. It's never bothered me, and I'm very sensitive to "too loud" stuff.

???

That is just a bizarre statement in that book IMO.

No, I don't recall anything strange about the production values. It's nice, you can actually hear and understand everything that is being said and sung, and I have been to some shows where I was left wondering what the heck was going on!

It is an AWESOME show and not to be missed. One of my favorite memories of our trip in '05. The best part was watching my 5yo son completely mesmerized and captivated by the ENTIRE show. He didn't move.

My tten kids did not have problems and two of them are very sound sensitive so I would say no.

From the descriptions and comparisons everyone is giving me, I'm sure I'll be just fine. Thanks for all of the input!! The Dis is only place to go for DL advice, IMO!! :thanks:

We've been twice in the past 2 yrs...we don't recall even reading anything about this or seeing anything?? Sounds like we missed out :confused3

It's in DCA at the Hyperion Theater. If you head down the Hollywood Backlot you run straight into it on your way to ToT.
