Do I need a FP for Test Track and M:S?

Hey all,

Do you think I need a FP for Test Track and Mission: Space in the evening. Plan to be there around 6:30ish. (Going to be at Epcot in the morning- Living Seas and The Land so I really didn't want to go ALLLLLLL the way over there if I really didn't HAVE to- break in the afternoon and then head back to Epcot for IllumiNations. We are going the beginning of December so I don't expect HUGE crowds.

It all depends on when you go. I doubt you'll need a FP for Mission space. Unfortunately, due to the obvious reasons, the ride keeps a steady stream of guests but, not all that often is it packed.

Test Track does get packed. It all depends on what time of year you go. However, a FP is the best way with this ride. Even in most slower times it's almost an hour wait.

Let me put it this way. We love Epcot. Go there every day on every trip. We haven't been on Test Track for ages because the Fast Passes are usually gone and the stand by and single riders line are too long. Mission:Space, no problem getting Fast Passes. I'd say go for Test Track and then Mission:Space. But Fast Passes for both are a good idea.

I find that FP is a must for TT. I don't ride M:S, but have heard several people report that standby lines are not bad

We've never had a problem in late Sept - early Oct with TT or M:S. Any other time of the day and it's busy, but generally not after 5pm!

FP's for Test Track are often gone by early afternoon (sooner in peak season). M:S generally has a standby wait of 30 minutes or less, but with the new Green Card option, queues are noticably longer. FP isn't necessary, but might be worthwhile if you don't want a wait.

You are right, but, this all depends on when you go. My wife and I were there Saturday and while the park was average crowd, and the wait time at TT was 60 mins, at 7:30 pm, we still got FP's for 8:00 and they didn't run out of FP's until 8:15.

If you go at a time where it's not packed, even if standby times are long, you can still get FP's. In fact, on this past trip, not once did we not get a FP and we typically got all of ours in the evening. Also most FP's were never more than 1 hour from the current time. We even got a FP for Pooh at 7:00 at night for 7:50 pm.

I think it's just when you go that makes the biggest difference.

During my entire stay last week they were giving out surprise fastpasses for Mission Space every time you got a fastpass for Test Track, so we would get fastpasses for Test Track, go ride Mission Space (as the surprise fastpass is always the half hour window starting when you got your fast pass + about five minutes) and play around in mission control for a few minutes and then it was time to go hit Test Track. We did that several times during our vacation.

I think TT still has a single rider line, which is usually a shorter line than the regular one, if there are no FP available.

True, which is why I said 'often', not 'always'. We've been to TT several times this summer and FP's were gone by mid-day on every visit. If you go in February, chances are you'll be fine. But since the OP didn't say when they are visiting I thought it was worth mentioning FP's can and do (often) run out by mid-day.

I don't know the load times for TT but I will share this with you. I went in the last week of July, which is one of the WORST times to go. Going alone might help because they have a line for single visitors. ALL of the lines were packed in completely. I arrived at TT at about 10:30 a.m. When I looked at the FP return time, it was 2:45! Yikes! I thought: forget it. I greatly feared that it would leave me underwhelmed because I thought it would feel like a car commercial. I got an FP for something else and chose to wait in line. I saved TT for my last stop of the day. It was about 5:30 when I came to TT but I still refused to get an FP. The lines were still totally packed in. I chose the singles line and had to wait about 30-40 minutes, which I think is a tiny bit faster than average when you consider that this one of the busiest weeks of the YEAR to be at WDW. I will not mention if I loved or hated TT since every kid on the ride LOVED it. I will say this: there are no rides that you'll be "wasting" an FP on but TT is the last thing I would use an FP on because the quality of all the other attractions at EPCOT were better than TT but that's my opinion. Maybe you should try to ask a few others on the message board if they liked TT. I liked it but couldn't help feeling overwhelmed by crass commercialism.
