Do I *NEED* a cuttlebug...

I just saw some die cuts that AWM posted and LOVE LOVE LOVE them...

Someone else also used them and used a cuttlebug and a provo die to cut them. I have need used one or have seen one in action. Are the dies interchangeable with other systems, is one better than another...Help!

Do NOT get the quickutz tool. That one is pointless. It can only use quickutz dies. You CAN however use the quickutz dies in the Sizzix or Cuttlebug machines. You can use most Sizzix and Cuttlebug dies in either machine with some shimming needed. You can use the Cuttlebug Kid dies in either machine, but you can not use other dies in the Cuttlebug kid machine.

These machines are needed for using embossing folders. I have the Sizzix BigKick and a little Sidekick (this uses the Sizzlet dies, but I can use those in the big one too). I didn't think I would still use it when I got the Cricuts, but I do.

I "think" you can use the 40% & 50% off coupons from Michaels for these. Hobby Lobby doesn't carry them, but you don't have Hobby Lobby. I don't know about ACMoore, what their sale policy is.

I get the name mixed up all the time. The package does say Provo Craft, but it says use with the Cuttlebug on the back. Because it says "cuttlebug" on it, Cord Camera Scrapbook Studios will give me 30% off retail. Just the dies though, not the machines.

Yep, you NEED a Cuttlebug! I primarily use it for embossing because most of the dies I have with my Cricut. I have bought a few though that I haven't seen on a cartridge- like a fire truck and Tink. Anywho... I love how easy it is to use and that I can use any dies/embossing folders with it. I haven't actually seen the Cuttlebug machine at Hobby Lobby, but the dies and embossing folders are there. Joann's and Michaels has them too. I haven't tried to use a coupon on the machine, but you should be able to.

ok i will hang my head in shame when i done with this post.....

i have the cuttlebug, cuttlekids, the big kick, the side kick, the original sizzix, and the quickutz!!!!! OMG listing all out looks really bad. i love the disney cuttlebug ones.
like ann said you interchange them. except for the big sizzix ones. i love them all!!! i can't help it!!!! my little sidekick one has been acting up lately. but i need it for the abc swap for the idea i have in my head. so it better straighten up and act right!!!!!

I used the embossing pooh and mickey head w/ my big sidekick..
I doubled up the white cutting boards...and than put 3 of the sidekick adaptors on top and perfect cut and emboss! I threw a brief party when it worked...

I have had my cuttlebug since April I think and it is still in the box. I like the embossing folders, but I don't know what to do with them. It annoys me that they aren't big enough for a standard photomat -- 4 1/4 by 6 1/4. I am also really mad at myself because one of the die sets I bought I didn't look at closely and someone stole 2 of them out of the package. I do have the receipt -- but who would believe 2 months later I finally noticed it?

Anyway, I love what other people have done with it. AWM has made a few different that are really good.

As far as the coupons go you should be able to use one in places like A C Moore, Michaels and JoAnn's. I know tho that some people have been having trouble at times because the box states that it's made by the people who make Cricut. A Cuttlebug is not a Cricut however so you may need to point that out to the sales person (I know some people have put up a bit of a fight and left without one ... just be prepared). I had no trouble using a coupon at J's.

i agree with that. i had to put up a fight to use my coupon because he (the ac moore guy) that it was a cricut. and i politely told him it was not. i asked him if he scrapbooked and he said no! and i said well let me tell ya buddy i do and this is no cricut!!!!! he finally gave in and let me use it! of course by that time dh walked away!!!

I have the original sixxiz and actually saw these dies at ACM last night before I got on and saw the pages this morning. So if I get a die how did you all shimm it to work? I've only ever shimmed with the sizzlets little adaptor thing and have been afraid to try the other brands.

Reviving this to ask again. Has anyone used these with the sixxiz? What all do I need to get them to work. I love the Nemo one and actually bought it thinking I'd use it for the rolodex swap but since I don't have the cuttlebug I'm not sure what to do.

I got a cuttlebug for my birthday 2 weeks ago and still haven't had time to play with it I wanted it because it is the only one I know of that embosses and cuts and I love embossing.

In the instructions it looks like you can use dies from anything - quickutz, sizzlets, sizzix, cuttlebug, cuttlekids, anything. I hope that's right.

Oh, and I have to agree, don't buy a quickutz machine. They're not worth it, you can buy an adapter cheap and use their dies in other machines but you can't use any other dies with their machine.

LOVE my cuttlebug. you can use sizzix, qk, sizzlets, etc in it. you can also use the cuttlekid dies in it (but you can't use anything but cuttlekid dies in the cuddle kid machine) maggie
