Just wondering if I have to schedule fast pass at all ..To tell you the truth I have been to Disney now 5 times and out of those trips I have used fast pass maybe 1 or 2 times i just waited in the good old long line of standby and really never bothered my family at all .....Call me weird or brave or whatever i just haven't used it so do i have too.. would rather do it for characters or fireworks show

You certainly aren't forced to use it if you don't want to. I personally think it would be silly not to, but you are free to not take advantage of it.

Of course you don't have to use it. Disney isn't going to shove you into the FP lines and make you ride ;).

You do have to book 3 per day if you want to book any, even if you just want 1, but you don't have to actually use them if you don't want to. The character and fireworks experiences you speak of are still FP+ though. If you do choose to book them those count towards your 3 you get.

We were at Disney a couple of weeks ago. We did not use any fast passes. I wanted to use the same touring method we have used for quite a few years. We got up early and hit the park at opening. We did everything we wanted to without any problems.

This has been my experience too... It's not hard to have a good time there.

Tho I love having 3 I can schedule from home, and not have to worry about running off thru crowds to grab FP- tickets.

To the OP, I would just pick 3 things you may want to go on. It's that simple! If you use them, great, if not, no big deal.

No, you certainly don't have to book them. Like others have mentioned, though, I would probably pick three of some of the rides maybe you like to do twice? That way at least one time doesn't have to be a long line? Up to you, but you certainly don't have to.

Can't imagine not using FP of any kind. I'd rather be doing almost anything else other than waiting in lines. But as a PP said, getting to the parks early can almost eliminate the need for them. We won't even get into line longer than 20-30 minutes.

I'm a little nervous, myself - about to take my first trip since the FP+ system rolled out (was last there in June 2013) and, due to some procrastination (NOT ON MY PART), we won't be purchasing our park tickets until we check in at Wildnerness Lodge. And we get in fairly late in the evening on Monday night, and plan to hit MK the next day. WIth a 3 year old. And my friend's mom who has to ride an electric scooter. Not great candidates for those long FP+ lines I've been seeing pictures of.

Once we get our bands after checking in that night, will I be able to use the app to schedule the next day's FP's that night? (I'm guessing it'll be near midnight by the time I get to do that!) It seems so last-minute to me...

Not at all. I am not scheduling any for my upcoming trip either. I may schedule some same day but I won't know which park I'll be in which day until I wake up that morning. I also don't make ADRs on park days for the same reason, I like flexibility.

I went to and enjoyed Disney before there were any Fast Passes what so ever and will continue to do so.
