I seem to have the opposite problem of what I'm reading about here. I have to say that I get my money's worth at buffets with my DD9. She loves to eat - especially seafood. Probably because we went on a cruise last year - and she was trying (and loving) surf and turf, salmon, all kinds of good stuff!! :goodvibes

We have the free dining plan and she's upset because she has to order off the kid's menu :confused3. Don't get me wrong, she loves chicken fingers and mac and cheese, but when I told her we were having surf and turf, she's not happy about that! We're gonna do a lot of sharing....

We have been to WDW on seven previous trips and my children, (now 21 year old DS and twin 15 year old DD's), have never been shy about eating. They have always eaten from the adult menu, and rarely waste food. They are ALL athletic and three sport athletes, so it's not like they simply sit there and stuff their faces. One of the twins will try try anything and the other is our resident carnivore. Have a great trip, and and have a great time sharing with your 9 year old DD. Have a great time!!

No, we call DD9 the Buffet Queen. She can't get enough at a buffet. :rotfl:

My 9 year old son loves to eat! He's almost 5' tall and over 100 pounds, and has always been strong and muscular. This August he and I are going to WDW with my sister and her DD9 and DD8. Her DD9 eats very lightly, but her DD8 eats as much as she's allowed to. We're doing the dining plan. I'm thinking that for the table service/non-buffet meals we'll order 2 adult meals and one child's meal and share. I figure with 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts, we should have enough food. I was starting to wonder though tonight. I took my son to Applebee's and he ordered the Buttermilk Shrimp (they didn't even offer him a kids menu.) That was a plate full of food and he cleaned it up then wanted dessert. I hear that WDW gives large servings so they should be enough to share. I hope so, because that's what I'm planning. My sister and I aren't huge eaters, so that should help.

At the buffets, my son and 8YO niece are going to be in hog heaven! :earboy2:

ds at 7 eats really well. I know lots of kids that don't eat much, but not our ds. I am worried about him eating the childs menu, I will share alot too :mickeybar

My boys are big eaters (all of them! Even the 1 year old!)!!! The funny thing is that I think mine are just constantly eating! I have already warned them all since we are on the Premium plan and get 3 meals a day (with both appetizer & desserts at lunch AND dinner! :rotfl: ) that if they tell me they are hungry 45 minutes - hour later and want a snack, I'm going to scream! :scared1: (The sad part is, they will! Their dad does that too!)

My DD on the other hand, you just never know...one minute she can eat like a bird and the next she can give her brother a run for his money on who can eat more.

I like the buffets though because it gives the kids a chance to try new things and even though mine are picky, they WILL at least take a bite or two of new things. They like several things I won't touch and it's all because they were able to have them at a buffet (or someone else's house!).
