I'm not sure this is the correct post for this, but since some of it involves transportation, I didn't think it would hurt...

We are flying out Monday, using DME, and staying at POR.

When I go to the airport, I will have my print out tickets that Delta emailed me. Some of my flights have been changed, so I also have a print out of my itinery. Is this all I need? I believe, since are inexperienced fliers, we will check in at the airport. At this point, they will give me anything else I need, including baggage claim tickets for DME. Is this correct so far?? (I will also have my Drivers License and Disney Visa that the tickets were purchased on).

When I arrive in Orlando, I have my baggage claim tickets from my airport, my driver's license, and that little book that came with my yellow luggage tags. Again, is that all I need?

Upon arriving at POR, I have my confirmation numbers and copies of all the papers they have sent me. Do I need anything else?

Okay....before you leave for the airport, put those yellow tags on all of the luggage that is going to be checked at your home airport. They must go on before you get to the airport!!! They are what alert the baggage handlers in Orlando to pull the bags off the conveyor belt and put them on the special truck to Disney.
As far as the other stuff...bring whatever tickets Delta sent you. You can bring your itinerary also, although I have never had to show mine. You will have to have a photo ID for all adults in your party in order to checkin. You will hand over your bags to be checked, Delta will put their own 'tags' on them, so each bag will now have a white (Delta) tag and a yellow (DME) tag. You will be given boarding passes, head to the security line now.You will need to show the security person your boarding pass and your ID, then, everything gets put into a bin, you walk through an 'x-ray' machine, pick up your stuff out of the bins, and walk to the gate. Wait for your flight to board, done by zone with Delta (your boarding pass will show you which zone you are in), when your zone is called, go to the jetway entrance, hand over your boarding pass to be scanned, and hop on board.

Fly to Orlando. When you land in Orlando, you will leave the gate area, hop on a tram that will take you to the main terminal area. Since you are flying on Delta, you will be arriving on Side B, DME is on Side A..not an issue, just a point of information for you. So...you will walk over to the A side of the terminal, just across the center courtyard, and take the escalators down. You will go past the baggage claim area, and go down to the bottom level. THis is where you will find the DME checkin desk. Just one person from your group needs to go there. You will get in that line, then when you get to the counter, they will ask for your packet, they will scan you in, send you to the appropriate bus line, right across from the checkin area. You will get in the POR bus line. A CM will then tell you when to go outside and which bus to board. The driver will then, most likely, scan your voucher, and you hop on board.
Watch the movie...it's cute, gets you in the mood for your vacation. When you get to POR, head for the checkin desk, hand them your reservation confirmation and you're good to go. You will need an ID (license) and a credit card if you want room charging priviledges. Your luggage will arrive some hours later. Be sure to bring swimsuits and a change of clothes with you, in a carryon bag, so that you have anything you may need for the first hours of your stay.
Hope this helps!!! You're gonna love POR...one of my favorite resorts!

OH wow, your information is so helpful! Only one more question--you said DME will ask for the packed... is that the baggage claim tickets and that little booklet they set with my yellow tags?

I'm assuming you mean the yellow strips when you say baggage claim tickets? If so, they should already be on your bags. But yes, the booklet that they came in contains your vouchers for the ride to POR. When I checked in last May, I had tucked my booklet away in my bag. So, when they asked me for it, in order to scan me in, I was a bit embarrassed since I should have known better after doing it 2 or 3 times before!!! Dopey me.

goofy4tink that was AMAZING information! Do you know where Alaska Air lines comes in at and how to get to DME? Thanks

Not sure which side Alaska uses. However, the directions to DME are still pretty much the same. You follow the same directions no matter which side you're arriving on. When we talk about Side A or Side B, you have to realize that they are joined with the main area of the terminal in the middle. So, even if you are arriving on Side A of the terminal, you still have to use your tram to the main area (level 3) and then take an escalator down to level 1. So, you still follow that regular directions to DME, no matter which airline you fly...head for the main terminal area, take the Side A escalators to level 1, the very bottom level. Level 2 is baggage claim, so unless you are grabbing your own luggage, there is no need to stop there before going to level 1.

If you think of MCO terminal as a rectangle....each corner of the rectangle has an arm going out of it..this is the tram to the outer gates. The top of the main rectangle would be Side A, the bottom of the rectangle, Side B. So there are 4 trams, running out to 4 different 'pods' of gates. Confusing? A bit, but if you check out a diagram of the airport, it really is quite easy to navigate. Of course, it's taken me 8 trips to get familier enough with it to direct my dh around!!
