We had planned an ADR for Cape May this day, so we woke up especially early to get to EPCOT. My thinking was to get there via monorail, and walk over to BC.
Unfortunately, we were running behind, and when we asked a security guard in which direction to go to get to BC, he mentioned that the walk is quite long and we would be late for our ADR.
So we turned to the kids and gave them a choice: either go to Cape May and have breakfast, but be late for rope drop, or stay and make rope drop, and grab something on the go elsewhere.
They chose the rope drop
So we did that, and my DH (who is apparently quite gifted as a FP getter) was the first in line to get FPs for Soarin'. As we made our way thru the Land building to get to the ride, we passed a counter service food station, and we both said to each other, "Well stop there after to get something to eat".
After we rode Soaring, we headed to the CS place - which happened to be Sunshine Seasons. I was STARVING!!! Sadly, I have no pictures for this, as I just wanted the food in me.
But, OMG!!! The food here was incredible! What exactly does Disney put in their potatoes and eggs to make them so tasty????
My DH and I got the adutl platter with bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes and a biscuit. The kids got French toast and sausage. I did not care for the sausage so much (I like the ones I get at home, which are maple flavoured), but my DS liked them, I he ate mine.
I had trouble fending off the kids - they kept trying to eat my potatoes! But we all kind of shared each other's plates.
Even though eating here was not planned, it worked amazingly well, and we plan to do the same thing for our next trip - except I may get a little nibble of something before we leave to tide me over
After FW, we headed to WS - especially to Japan to make our way to Teppan Edo. We were a little early, and a littl eunsure as to which building the restaurant was in, but we found it.
As you know, Teppan Edo is a teppanyaki restaurant, where they cook the food in front of you.
Before we were lead to our seats, the entire staff came out into the lobby and "presented" themselves to us. Very ritualistic, and I'm guessing true to the culture.
We sat with two other couples, but they kind of talked with each other - which was fine with us.
Our chef came out and introduced himself to us and did this on the grill:
I started with the Shrimp cocktail:
It was very good - and I shared it with my DS as the kids did not get a starter for this meal.
My DH had the tempura, and although I do not have a picture, he siad it was yummy.
They set you up with 3 different sauces for dipping your food into. They were all good.
For the main we all had the following:
DH: Nihonbashi Steak and chicken
Me: Ebi Shrimp
DS: Ebi Shrimp and Chicken
DD: Tori Chicken
All the meals included veg and edon noodles and rice.
Here are some pics of the chef cooking:
This was a really good meal. We live in an area that has a lot of asian restaurants, including teppanyaki. This was a good replication of the teppanyaki experience, but I suspect that Disney has adjusted the seasonings to make them more....palatable for the masses. But it was still very good.
We all had the green tea ice cream for dessert.....yummy!
The meal was pretty expensive, and although very good, we probably will not come back to Teppan next time. But this is more because there are so many other places we want to try! EPCOT is a food mecca! And we also have the idea of "eating around the world" next time.
