Do hotels take requests for view preferences? or get what you get?

This may seem an odd question, but when booking a stay in Florida, you can make requests with your room booking like:

Would like view of pool area
would like high floor (or low floor)
would like to be near an elevator

or other such things. Granted these are requests only (never guaranteed) but is that a custom that is done when booking with DLP?

Or do you make such requests when you check in?

Or, do you just be happy with getting whatever they give you?

On the whole I'd say that most European guests put less demands when making a booking, but I'm betting that DISers are not your average guests ;)

Similarly any request will be that :)

I'd contact the hotel directly 3-7 days before your arrival. This is when the room allocations should be getting sorted. Then you can restate your various requests and hopefully be surprised on arrival :)

Hi,

Would anyone happen to know how I get the number to call them :confused3 as I would like to request a non smoking room.

Thanks

Michelle

Link in The Very Useful Info sticking under bookings :)

Still no email addresses for the Disney hotels themselves? I much prefer to email, using the phone freaks me out sometimes (and I used to be a receptionist:rotfl: ).

I've stayed on site twice at DLRP. At Sequoia Lodge I asked for a room in the main Lodge when we checked in and we got a free upgrade to a Montana room. At Hotel Cheyenne I asked for a room in a specific building when I booked and I got it.
I think it is always a good idea to ask if there is something specific you want and of course most CMs want to help if they can. The worst that can happen is that you may not get what you hoped for.

Agreed. Far less frenzy than one sees here on the WDW Resorts boards.

I usually request a particular area or room type at check in (not in advance) if available. For instance at Santa Fe high floor away from the busses and main building (which is not a common request), at Sequoia Lodge room near wifi hotspot (less than 10 percent of their rooms can access the internet)

I have had many wonderful rooms in past but don't place a lot of emphasis on getting the 'perfect' room, nor does it make or break my vacation. Not every guest can have that room with the perfect view

Just call reservations and have them add it to your reservation

I have email addresses (providing I haven't deleted them) for Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay Club, wasn't one of these you wanted was it ?

Sequoia Lodge would be useful please Jill, I might drop them an email and request a room in the main building :thumbsup2

When we stayed there in December the CM on the phone told me that all Disney rooms in DLRP are now non-smoking rooms. :confused3 Can anyone confirm this?

I was under the impression they were non-smoking, although i was a smoker so i wouldnt have known to be honest but i gave up two months before our nye trip and one evening when we came back there was a very strong smell of smoke on the floor we were on- was very shocked

Ditto!! ::yes::

I've always made my requests at the time of making the booking, and so far I've been lucky enough to have them met. Though they weren't too specific - just for connecting rooms, or for one of the four "trails" at the Santa Fe.

When booking i've made a request for connecting room even tho the ppl werent coming until the next day and they did that for us. But if your after a certain view wont they just you can pay extra for blah blah blah as when booking you do have the option to pay extra for a lake view and that?

No - we stayed in January this year and we were allocated 2 smoking rooms in Sequoia Lodge - in this hotel for those who are interested, she told us the 4th floor is the smoking floor.

And - we have stayed in non smoking rooms before. That had 3 ashtrays in them...our smoking rooms in SL had no ashtrays!!!
