Do gift cards from My Points expire?

I've tried contacting My Points directly but just get the same form letter responses each time. Our trip is about a year and half away and I have several gift cards I'm working toward for meals, etc. I'm concerned that if I redeem the points now the gift cards will expire. But I also don't want to just leave tens of thousands of points in my account and then lose them as some people have reported. :scared1:

I am specifically planning to get:

Applebees
Landry's
Burger King
Subway
Pizza Hut
Jack-in-the Box
Walgreens (to purchase Disney gift card in the store)

Does anyone have experience with these cards and expiration dates? Should I contact the companies directly? :confused3

TIA for any help! :goodvibes

Gift cards are the same as cash and don't expire. Though you may want to check with your Walgreen's about buying gift cards with a gift card. I know that mine won't allow it.

The GCs are just normal giftcards from those companies. So the companies are the ones to contact. I know that I haven't run into a proper giftcard that expires in years.

The Landrys giftcards definitely do NOT expire.

Note: not all Walgreens will allow you to buy a GC with their GC.

And...Jack in the Box doesn't seem to be in Florida at all.

Thank you! I'll be sure to double check at Walgreens before redeeming the points.

Some of the cards are for the drive down and we'll be sure to double check the area and try to use the Jack-in-the-box one closer to home. There aren't a ton of FF options and we wanted a variety so that's the main reason we are planning on getting that one but I'll just double up something else if I need to. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Some of the cards are for the drive down...

There are several gas Station Gift Cards - not sure if any are enroute from where you live or in Florida, but I thought I'ld mention it.

We used Landry's for Rainforest Cafe in DTD and Shell Gas GC's for the drive down on our last trip to Disneyland.

I certianly did not have 10's of thousands of points ( you lucky gal) but every bit counts and $25 in free gas was was great - Especially free American Gas as its alot more than what $25 normally gets me!

I us e MyPoints for vacations too. I like that you can bank your pts.
I have several that I cashed in for Cracker Barrel a couple of yrs ago and they are still good. I like CB gift cards because you can use them everywhere they have one. So I know I'll have a "good meal" at least once while on the road :rotfl:

Just check the back of ur cards and call the tollfree # to check ur balance. Oh and check ur cards website if you are looking for a specific location to use a card.

Yes, gas gift cards would be really helpful as well! Thanks for that tip. :goodvibes

The only reason I have so many points is because I've talked my mom and my brother into letting me do their online purchases for them. And we live in a rural area so I do a lot of online shopping anyway. A lot of the time Amazon has a better price so I can't use my points but every time I can, I do! And I try to bank the points and use them only for vacations so I save them up for a while. :thumbsup2
