Do Expensive Strollers ever get Stollen?

Please do not freak out over these stories. Although stroller theft can happen, it is extremely rare. I worked there for years, and never experienced any problem with theft. Often I was that CM who moved the strollers around on a neverending basis, and that is one reason why it is more difficult for someone to sneak in and steal something. Yes, occasionally a camera may be stolen, but there are hundreds turned into lost and found each month. I am certainly not saying to just leave your things laying around or that problems dont happen, but it is definitely not a scary den of theivery. I have taken my Peg Peregos and most recently my Inglesina Zippy with no problem.

I live in FL, so I've been to tons of theme parks. Busch Gardens I would NEVER leave anything out or leave a nice stroller unattended. Yikes. But I have always felt safe about WDW. Sure things could happen there, like the stroller buffoon who broke it, but that could happen more likely almost anywhere else. I have more of a problem with my own kids standing on it and breaking it than someone else!!

You will be okay and have a great time! :thumbsup2

Just one other thought...

You have much more of a chance of your rented WDW stroller being snatched by a "pigheaded jerk who's kid is too tired to walk" than your own personal stroller. It's way easy, especially at the end of the night to grab one and "magically lose" the paper with the name on it.... :furious:

Thanks for all of the opinions on this thread. I think I'll get a wheel lock for our new Pliko 3 for our upcoming trip. See how that goes...and also get some sort of tag or id, ribbons, etc. I'd hate to have our stroller stolen and think it will be worth the extra effort. There is no way I could use a rental for our daughter -- she still needs the reclining ability and some other features that don't come with a rental.
Thanks everyone!

BTW -- I just LOVE stollen! Mmmm...with fresh cream and berries. Yummy!

I asked the exact same question before we went in March. I trusted the folks on the DIS and took my Maclaren. I am sure glad I did because with the amount of pushing we did, my back would have been killing me with the little cheap umbrella. That being said, my Maclaren didn't cost a huge fortune and we saw lots of them- so they weren't in great demand for stealing. We did "lose" it one time by Mickey's Philharmagic and it took us about 20 minutes to find it- The CM's had just rearranged a lot of them at once. We also "lost" it on the Safari ride at AK, again...just the CM's moving them around.

Bottom line- worry less about theft than convenience and take the one you will be able to easily collapse while holding a sleeping child in one arm, extra jackets in the other, balancing the baby bag on your back, and hauling it onto a crowded bus with a long line behind you!

:rotfl: Do you think if I call my insurance company I can add my Pliko 3 onto my policy? ;) :thumbsup2
