Do Either you or your spouse know nothing/close to nothing about your finances?

I know basics but I don't really care. He fills me in when i ask and will let me know if something comes up.

I could take over in a pinch if needed , he is really organized and important paperwork is easy to get my hands on.

My DH does all the investments and long term goals. I do all the daily money magagement by paying bills and keeping track of our budget. It works for us.

I bring the checks home, give them to DW and she takes care of it all. It's worked for 27 years. I have zero interest in what's going on with the $$.

There is another poster on the DIS whose marriage is in trouble and may not last and the problem is the DH did stuff with their finances and she did not have a clue. It may not have gotten this bad if she knew better what was going on.

DH and I are equally involved in the finances. That said, I think if I wanted to I could hide stuff pretty easily and be in debt he didn't know about. He could do the same.

I do the day to day stuff--DH handles the taxes and the investment stuff. I think it can get kind of confusing if more than one person is handling the monthly bills, etc so this is just the way we divided it (plus I hate doing taxes with a passion!) We both know what's in our accounts and what we're spending.

We were older when we married and had lived on our own so neither of us is clueless about these things. DH would have no problem picking up the daily stuff if something happened to me and I'd just hire someone to do my taxes for me.

Thanks for the reminder, though. As I was reading this, I realized that DH has no idea about our online banking passwords. I'm going to write them down for him and have him put them in the safe.

DW doesn't like working with numbers and finances much. I have a bit of a background and work in that arena, so I handle all of our finances but do keep her informed.
