Do DVCers like to use EMH?

disgirl,

I'm glad I could help. I forgot to mention that Chip and Dale were also signing autographs by the Castle together. Also, the Great Movie Ride was running two cars per guide instead of the usual four. The times for each night were: MGM 7-10PM, AK 5-8PM, MK 8-11PM and Epcot 9PM-12AM. I am a night owl so these nights were great. I slept late and stayed up late. I figured I'm on vacation, why get up early when I can stay at the parks late. In the morning no resort ID was necessary for entry or rides (I used early entry Friday for MK) but at night you needed to show resort ID for a wristband. Also, the buses were empty driving back to the resort. I stayed at Saratoga Springs and we shared with Old Key West for trips back from MK and Epcot and only on the Epcot bus did anyone have to stand (it wasn't crammed like the All-Stars, you know "If you can see floor keep moving"). These nights are a great way to see a lot of longer line attractions on short lines and not in the heat of the day. Also, it is almost impossible to do everything opened late except at AK (OK, if you hustle maybe MGM) so plan around that. Epcot night I didn't do Universe of Energy or Honey I shrunk the Audience but did everything else that was opened late. If you are staying at BCV definitely do Epcot and I would try to do MGM, even if it's crowded you can walk or take the boat back early. MK was great because so much was open (I walked onto Philharmagic twice). One more thing, the roller coaster rides were popular because of spring break, they may not be as long of lines when you go.

These nights felt like E-ride nights at MK except this now applies to all four parks. If you wait until closing chances are you will be among the only people in the park and that is a great time for pictures especially of the Tree of Life lit up.

Sweetp267,

They were pretty diligent at MK, MGM and Epcot where they asked for my ID and took it from me checking the dates. At AK I held it and they looked at it rather passively. I was alone so I don't know about how they treat kids.

I am very excited about the late EMH. We never did the EE park, we're on vacation and like to sleep in. We also go in September most of the time, so we avoided the EE park, and got to another park at opening. With the low crowds, we never had to kill ourselves to see all we wanted. And, as DVC owners, we know we'll be back.

We are going in May this year (and we are not returning to WDW until Christmas 2006), so things will be different. I will be more of a commando than in the past. We will definately use the late EMH, but probably avoid the early EMH park. I am looking forward to late hours at AK and Epcot.

EMH is just about as awesome as a light rain during the day! The parks are practically barren - like they're open just for you. Very light crowds. Very limited lines. The only thing I'm negative about is that many of the shops & stalls don't remain open.

Other than that - it's the best!!!

Thanks everyone.
DebbieB: Did you find the crowded EMH worse than a "crowded" day at MK? I was thinking we would atleast try the MK one cause I do love the park late at night, too. However, if it is really crowded, like 45 minute plus waits for the popular rides, maybe it won't be worth staying up so late and being exhausted for the next day. I am still not sure what to do, but I guess I have 5 months to figure it out. Ha! :sunny:

The major rides were 45 minute plus waits during the early part. I think the key was that it was 7 to 10. I think if it's later, it would be less crowded. I think we left around 9:00.

We always do the EE mornings because we just can't sleep in, even if we tried! The EMH (evening) is new to us but plan to take full advantage of it on our May trip!

You know, since we have bought into the DVC, we go more frequently than we used to, so I don't feel the need to commnado tour and squeeze out every hour possible in the parks, so I have not used EMHs too much.

Last trip, we did go for the MK opening one day, which was quite a thing to see.

Disney Doll: I was wondering when I started this thread if that was how some DVCers thought. We are just making our first trip "home" this August, although we have been to WDW many times. I can only imagine that once we keep going back as DVC members, EMH might not be as important. I think this trip we will give them a try. Thanks for your thoughts. :)
