Do DVC Members get anything for referring new members?

I believe it depends on where you live (at home). Some states do not allow it. We received $$ for referring someone, we put it towards our dues. I do not remember what other options we had, using the $$ that is.

We chose $200 in Disney dollars for our first referral. The options go up in value if you refer more people within a year.

I am from texas and had a referral. I was told that becase of my state, our referral will not receive anything other than a thankyou card. that was enough for her.

As previous posters indicate, it depends upon the state laws where you reside. Many states do not allow DVC to give this reward. Texas does not allow it.

Yes, NYers can get $200 for the first referral in a year. If you're the one thinking of buying, I'd be glad to have you use my name. You may even get a discount on the purchase price! Send me a PM if that's the case. :goodvibes

you can get up to 5 referalls a year that totals 1000 dollars. you can get disney dollars, put it for your annual dues, or for a down payment on more points, and they have to join to get the credit

Indiana does not allow it either. My sister and her family gave our name to their guide, which also happened to be OUR guide, and all she could send us was a thank you.

I referred 2 people(and possibly a third coming up) that bought. I didn't recieve anything.

What about California? I referred a friend back in Dember. He bought and I never rcvd anything. :guilty:

My sister got $200 Disney dollars when I joined.

We sent 3 people and got just a thank you. PA doesn't allow it. I don't know but I would have even been happy with special seating, meal vocher. When we signed up all we got was a single fast pass????

We're in WI and got a thank you letter from our guide when we referred some friends to him. I don't know that they purchased DVC yet though, I think that it was just a letter thanking us for the referral. I don't expect to get anything though if the friends DO buy DVC points.

We live in MA and just received paperwork for $200, to be used towards Disney Dollars, annual dues, credit towards an additional ownership interest, or Donation to Give Kids the World.

From Terms and conditions of the program (1/1/05-12/31/05):
The referral needs to become an official member (ownership interest complete when DVD has received an executed copy of a purchase agreement, down payments received, rescission period has expired, qualification for morgage financing - if applicable - has been obtained)

You would receive the reward 60 to 90 days after the guest's ownership interest is complete.

States eligible for the program (state permits rewarding members for their participation in the Sharing the Magic Program):
Alabama Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas,Lousiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Wisconsin

There ia a restriction of $600 in total rewards for Arizona, and $1000 in total rewards for Illinois and Ohio (calendar year).

I am sure there is more information on the DVC website. Note that this was the 2nd piece of correspondence regarding the referral - the 1st was a "thank you" for the referral. If the guest does not buy, you receive nothing more.

Ah, interesting. I didn't expect anything if the people we referred actually bought DVC. I just referred them because we thought they might be interested!

I guess this only works if the new owners buy through Disney and not in the resale market. We bought resale the first time so I don't think the member who referred us to his guide (just to ask to be assigned to him) got anything for the referral.
