Do doors to balconies have child-proof locks?

We will be at Kidani in October and I'm a bit nervous about having two rooms in our villa because of the sliding doors. (I'm assuming they are sliding doors.) Are there child-proof locks on the doors so kids can't slip out while mom or dad is in another room?

Thanks!

How old are your kiddos? We were in Jambo this past spring and there was no way that my toddlers could open that door- it was really heavy and you needed the "leverage" of your arm pulling up to move our sliding doors.

The older two I am not worried about, but the youngest will be 3. He's a bit of an escape artist and daredevil. We watch him like a hawk but it is always nice to have safeguards. He's not terribly strong, though, so this is encouraging.

I'm working off my memory from two years ago, but I remember there being a lock at about chest height on me on our sliding door at the Polynesian. I'm a shorty, only 5'1", but that should be high enough to prevent your 3yo from opening it. He could drag a chair over and try to reach it, but I'd hope someone would catch him before he got that accomplished.

WL has a lock about chest or shoulder high on the sliding glass door so I'm sure they all do.

We stayed at Jambo in May. I remember the lock being too high for the toddler/pre school crowd and the door was heavy. Sorry I can't be more help, DD is 7 and we were only on the second floor so it wasn't a concern kwim?

I do remember the door was not an average "sliding glass door" no easy flip lock, and it required a little muscle. :)

. . . Are there child-proof locks on the doors so kids can't slip out while mom or dad is in another room? . . .

1) No.
2) However,
. . . some have a bar about 4' above the floor
. . . some have a slide pin lock about 5' above the floor
3) But, NONE ARE CONSIDERED CHILD PROOF.

Thanks! This makes me feel a little better. It's not that we plan on leaving the toddler in the other room in the villa all the time, but even if we are in the same room, I was afraid that if it was a regular sliding door we wouldn't at least have a head start to stop him from getting out there. If the lock is high and the door is heavy, then that's all we need. Having kids has made us pretty good at the speed dash! :)

When we stayed at OKW the door to the balcony there was not child proof. There was a chain you could use up near the top. But if you forgot that it was not very safe. We don't have kids but it was a concern to me from a security point.

The only child proof thing I really noticed was that the cords for the roller blinds were the fixed type and not hanging loose.
