Do DisneyLAND codes and pins work differently?

I'm considering a vacation to DLR this year for the last couple days of May and first week of June. The current promotions on the Disney website are only for travel through the end of March.

I'd really like to stay at the Grand Californian or Disnleyland Hotel, but room prices are more than $400 a night right now.

I just called to see if there was perhaps a PIN associated with my name and the CM said there are "no pins or discounts out of any kind, personal or general other than the current promotion that ends tomorrow".

So since I am reading that several on this board have received PINS recently, is she mistaken, or does this work differently for DLR?:confused3

I called DLR reservations yesterday, and the first guy told me there was "no way to look up and see if a pin is attached to my name". I called back again later in the day hoping to speak to somebody else, and the second guy at first said he couldn't check. When I asked if DLR was different than WDW, because when I call and ask about WDW pins they can tell me if one is attached to my name, he then asked for my last name only and said, 'Nope, nothing.".

So, I'm still wondering if DLR pins and codes work differently than WDW?

They work the same - we get pins from time to time but have not been able to make good use of them; the prices for the hotels even with a PIN are still pretty high - DLR was still more expensive than using my AP discount for example, and the % off was only good Sun-Thurs (we usually go Thurs-Sunday). The times we have gotten them though they have come either on a postcard or to our email, just as I presume a WDW one would - we have never received one to go there which is what I have always wanted/needed. :sad2:

I have received Disneyland PIN codes in my e-mail, but nothing recently. Have you tried ordering the vacation planning CD or saving a trip online but not booking? That is what I believe generated my last round of PINS for DL, and my recent codes for WDW.

I agree with the previous poster that even with a discount, the on-property hotels at Disneyland are pretty expensive and there's much less incentive to stay on property (transportation advantages, dining plan, etc.) With so many hotels within easy walking distance, I haven't been able to justify that expense. We LOVED staying at the Anabella on our last trip. It's right next door to the Grand Californian and the walk to the parks is mostly on Disney property. Not what you were asking, I know...

Good luck - I hope you're able to find a great discount!
