Do disney release superb deals at the last minute?

As per the title. We are travelling for 2 weeks in the low season between Easter and Summer. I have offsite accomodation sorted with which I am more than happy. But I was wondering whether disney release rooms at bargain basement rates very last minute? I presume they will not be at full occupancy at the times I am speaking - so do they prefer to leave the rooms open or will they let them go at low prices just to fill them?

I have looked at the early rates (notable swan and dolphin) but at the moment they are just too high, especially considering not all of the time would be under the 'value' rates.

Thanks

Adam

Yes,Disney does sometimes release laast-minute discounts. Case in point: I got a one-night rate of 59 dollars plus tax at All Star Sports for the night of December 21st. I got the email on Wednesday and made the ressie yesterday. Pretty good, huh?

Was this a FL Resident deal?

Disney does run pretty full (overall 94% last year). Just FYI, with Disney resorts (not S/D) whatever season rate you check in with, is your rate the whole stay. The do not penalize or give you a break mid stay, if the "billing season" changes.

It is too early for discounts for that time but most likely you will find some general code further in advance then last minute.

Enjoy

Excuse me, but I believe the time period you're talking about is regular season, not value season. I know I went last May (and also went the last two Setembers and Dec). My rates in Sept and Dec were less than my May rate. The resorts and the parks were more crowded in May than in Sept also. Don't forget the flower festival is going on during April-May and brings in alot of people. In fact we'll be going back in May and I expect to pay more than I'm paying for my Dec trip..

Sorry I couldn't resist, but someone needs to let you know, this time of year is hardly low season, and I've yet to find the evasive "low season" and that's with 6 trips a year. Needless to say, that time of year (starting one week after Easter Sunday) will be regular season. For an AP discount on a value room, the lowest was $74 a night, so only a $25 a night savings and that is with a AP this past May. There are seldom any discounts to the general public this time of year for room only, but there are often discounted packages you might look into. This time of year is extremely popular for school groups, locals, empty nesters (that would be us), and conventions. The weather is great and the crowds are moderate, and heavy during the weekends. We are booked for April 29-May 11 at our DVC resort (BWV) and couldn't get all of the nights we wanted and are on a waitlist for one night out of 12. Good luck and continue to watch the resort boards for discounts, it's one of the best places to watch for them. We'll be watching for an AP discount for the night we arrive in WDW before moving to the BWV.

If you are meaning calling Disney up last minute and asking for any "deals", Disney won't give you any. You will need to be armed with some sort of discount code or an Annual Pass. And even then, I find it highly improbable that you find a great rate last minute. Better to book early, keep your eyes on the boards for new discounts and confirm something well in advance of arrival (especially for a stay as long as your's).

Disney is NOT like other chains where you could call a day or so ahead and they will offer you a cut-rate price to fill their rooms. And, like another poster mentioned, Disney operates at very high occupancy year round. So, even at regular rates they fill almost all their rooms anyway.

Good luck! Happy Planning! :)

Disney doesn't discount last minute in my experience. We had to stay last minute at the GF a few months ago on an emergency basis. It's a long story, so I won't go into it. We got the room by walk-up to the desk at 10 p.m. It was high season. I asked if I could have the room at an AP rate with my annual pass and was told no, I'd have to book through CRO to get an AP rate, even though there seemed to be plenty of available rooms. Due to the situation, I wasn't about to try to call CRO, so just took the room at rack rate.

So, based on my experience, don't plan on a last minute discount, unless you can book an AP or FL resident rate last minute through CRO.

We went in October this year-- the "LOW" season and the resorts were packed. What it now down to is that Disney does such a good job of marketing the shoulder seasons that they are still at 95% percent occupancy via free dining, etc. It is the off-site hotels that really feel the pinch at these times of year and can have some fabulous deals. I stayed at Comfort Suites and paid $79 a night for a one-bedroom suite in January last year. I had to rent a car, but it was very comfortable, new and convenient. I could also pickup Chik-fil-a breakfast sandwiches on the way to the parks and save big on the food bill by either free continental breakfast or hitting a drive thru. That being said, I still prefer to stay on-site if I can to get immersed in the magic!

But no values again -- I'd rather stay off-site. Just not my cup of tea!

Could I ask how you got an email? That is GREAT. Congratulations!!! I once got a postcard deal (we couldnt use it we are both teachers.....we can only go on school vacations) but I have never heard of an email. Are you an AP?? Thanks in advance for the info.

The emails sent out are random based on marketing needs. You can register on Disney.com for mailings, but that is no guarantee you will get a discount code email.

I've been registered for years now and I've never received a discount code/PIN offer. I think they must know they already have me hooked going twice a year and don't need to entice me. LOL

I am from the UK so the 'seasons' seem to be a tad different. Maybe value season isnt right, but our dates are about 50% cheaper through UK agents than in they would be 2 weeks earlier.

My value comments were more based on the disney swan and dolphin special deals, of which there are a host of dates in and around our stay. Unfortunately I am not made of $150 a night.

By the sounds of it Disney wont be getting my custom, I will phone around the 'nearby' luxury resorts near the time instead because I know they will be more likely to cut a deal!

Many thanks

My DH is a last minute guy. I keep wanting to book when I see discounts ,but he can't commit to a certain date yet. It sucks, because we will probably pay twice as much.
