Do Disney Cruises usually sail full?

Is it usual for both Magic and Wonder cruises to sail at full capacity? If so, what is the full capacity? Do you notice it being crowded while onboard?

Thanks for the info. I'm always the curious one!

We usually see the sign that states that the ship is full, but it doesn't ever seem overly crowded to me. Now, that's just my opinion...others may disagree. :)

I don't know about the ships being full, but I am after a couple of thoses wonderful DCL dinners!!

We sailed at Easter on eyar and I am sure the ship was sold out and it did not seem any more crowded than the past two Decembers, The ship is so large with so many areas to spread out in I don't think you notice how many people are actually on it.

I don't know about whether the ships always sail full, but when we sailed at spring break time earlier this year, it was full. The ship itself did not seem overly crowded, but what we did notice is that the kids program was full. The agent onboard the Wonder told us that during times of the year that kids are in school, even if the ship is full, you may notice a difference that the o.club and o.lab aren't filled to capacity.

Nov. 6 was a sold out but it never really seemed too crowded even at party time. It is such a big place that you never feel smothered by people.

that Christmas and New Year's weeks this year are full...
I also read some place and if I'm wrong, (someone correct me).....that a full ship is in-around 2500 people...

Dave from Marietta might know better than I ....;)

We tend to sail on holidays, so the ship is usually full. It is built to handle a capacity crowd, so we'vwe barely notice it. You might need to make some slight allowances, like arriving at the theater early to get your choice of seats, but other than that, you won't notice much difference.
We also sailed once in January when the ship was very empty, and I hated it! We were on second seating, and the diningroom was like a ghost town. There was no audience energy at the shows because there were so few people. I MUCH prefer having a full ship, as I like to be surrounded with lots of other people who are having a great time like I am.

Apparently the ship does not always sail at full capacity.

We got to chit-chatting with the luggage guy when we dropped our bads off at the port. He said that we should get our luggage pretty fast this trip because they were sailing with only about 2000 guests rather than the normal 2500.

December 22, 2001 Magic = FULL
January 5, 2003 Wonder = NOT FULL

I guess it may depend on the season/time of year?

I just checked our December 14 - 18, 2003 Wonder cruise on www.cruise-locator.com and there are still quite a bit of staterooms available in most categories. This sets sail in 32 days.

I know I just called to try to get a room on the 3 day for Thrusday the 13, 2 days from now and was told they are full.

We have sailed twice with a full ship! 2700 passengers and almost 1000 crew! We sat at rear of the ship(topsiders deck) most evenings to watch the sunsets, and were virtually alone! What a great place: cant imagine why so few people take advantage of watching one of the most beautiful sights on earth -perhaps they are all napping before dinner? hehe.
Also: if you get up early - you can enjoy the sunrise on the same deck with a delicious cup of coffee! Bliss! Nat

We sail in September, and I think that most of the rooms are full, but there are not as many kids in them. So that would make 'less' people because there are fewer kids.

Next year we will be sailing the week of Christmas, so I have a feeling we will be in for a big surprise with regards to the number of kids onboard.

Oh! What a wonderful idea! I never thought of going there for sunrise or sunset. Will definitely do that on our next cruise!

Just to add another part of the question, when oyu say full such as DEC what is are the pool areas like duirng the day at sea. Is the ship really that roomy?:yo-yo: :wave2:

Do you feel crowded at the pools? at the dining room? at breakfast buffet?

Are there areas / events that I should expect to stand in lines when the ship is at capacity?

Thanks for the info!

Our cruise in August was full and I was amazed at the lack of crowds, etc., except in the dining rooms. Being a first-time cruiser with no children, I also had some concerns about being bowled over by running children in hallways, etc., but it never happened. In fact, we seldom saw kids. It was kinda eerie .... We watched people coming in off of Castaway Cay and I was just astounded at how many there were!
