Do deaths come in threes, or just celebrity deaths?

Do deaths in our lives come in threes or just celebrity deaths? Just wondering. I thought it was celebrity deaths. Why is that anyway - anybody know where it originated from? :confused3

I do feel sorry for Farrah Fawcett's family, but she has suffered a long time with cancer and it may be a blessing that her fight is over.

Michael Jackson - loved his music, but he turned out really weird as an adult. I always asked myself "why" when I saw his picture on TV. Why the plastic surgery and skin color changes - he was just fine the way God made him, why he thought he had to change is beyond me.
:sad2:

Not sure. But one thing I just noticed. Was watching the 9:oo news with DH and they spent over 15 minutes about Michael. They gave Farrah about 3 minutes. That stinks. Oh well.. Either way as I said before I hope everyone of them RIP.

My mother has always said ''bad things come in 3's" and she is a Pollyanna! Really!

I've found it to be true though. So death esp. and then bad things (such as the sink clogs up, the dryer breaks down and you burn dinner or something) ;)

You know, I have never met either one of these folks in my life but I feel an overwelming sense of sadness today. Life is too quick. I hope another doesn't appear dead, I don't know if I could handle it.

Ed, Farrah and Michael. Yep, they seem to come in threes.

I feel the same way today. Even though I never met either of them I feel like a little part of me is gone. Let me explain...I remember being very little watching Charlie's Angels with my mom. I remember watching the reruns in the day time while I was eating lunch waiting to go to kindergarten. I remember being a HUGE Michael Jackson fan in the 1980's. We would have huge slumber parties with MTV on in the background just hoping that the Thriller video would come on. Both of these celebrities were icons. They changed the way a generation dressed, danced and even how they wore their hair. Both were a part of many people's lives even if it was indirectly. It just reminds me of how fast my childhood had passed me by...how people I grew up loving are gone. Everything happens just too fast.

Ed McMahon, Farrah and Michael were the three, but generally speaking all negatives come in three. Three plane crashes, three train wrecks, three house fires, three appliances breaking....the list goes on and on. I often wonder if great things come in even higher numbers but we fail to recognize them because we take them for granted?

Come to think of it, my best friend in school had a Farrah Fawcett hair do! She didn't look anything like Farrah Fawcett, but her hair had the wings and she used to comb it all the time to make it stay like that....drove me nuts.

When I heard that Michael Jackson had died, his songs kept playing in my head. If that is the legacy that he leaves behind, his music touching so many lives, then he lived a meaningful life. Too bad he didn't know it.

I've always heard that they come in 3's. But I also think that 3 is a relatively easy number to come up with if you need to fill the bill.

Wow I forgot about Ed McMahon...geez that does make it three....gosh!!!!

That did drive me nuts too. But a hairdresser said that in order for the hairstyle to work you had to 'train' your hair to feather. Don't know if that is true but really it was a nice hair do for the 'big' hair days.

It is a great tragedy. I wonder about the kids do. Farrah's son has serious drug problems and I think he actually might be in jail right now so this is probably really hard on him and then Michael has those three kids that have been in seclusion with him for so many years. I wonder how drastically their lives will change.

I think a lot of this is self-fulfilling. I've noted other times when deaths came in one's and two's that people simply don't make note of it. And when they come in four's, folks seem to readily discount one of the four to safeguard the "in threes" mythos.

Yeah...I think it's a bunch of hooey....

Walter Cronkite is gravely ill and is not expected to make it. I think this will be #5 and so, as my momma would say, who will be the 6th? (3+3)

Well, I think the three deaths are supposed to be really close together and David Carridine died at the beginning of June, so I don't think he'd be included in the 3 deaths theory.

How old are MJ's children now?

Bad things always seem to come in 3's for me - except recently, when they come in 6's and 7's.

They don't die in threes! Not regular people, not celebrities. Nobody dies in threes. It's hogwash.

I had this conversation 18 bojillion times with my mother, who always bought into this stupid idea. :faint:

THEY DON'T DIE IN THREES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (there just aren't enough exclamation marks.)

I agree--it's a bunch of hooey.
