That's good advice. It's pretty common for merchants to offer charging transactions at USD, but they are usually at fairly bad exchange rates. Not only that, some credit card companies still consider these as foreign transactions even if the intention of users was trying to save on foreign transaction fees.In most cases, it is best that credit card purchases are in the local currency and let the credit card company do the conversion.
Beware of merchants that automatically convert the charge into dollars, usually at a rate that is favorable to the merchant, resulting in a hidden price increase.
