Do cruise prices go down days before embarking?

Hi!
We are considering a cruise set to embark on April 11th, it seems to have plenty of staterooms..

Is it too crazy wait until the same week to book it hoping for lower prices?

The 2 that I find departing that date already have multiple categories sold out and others in *GT status. I would not expect them to drop even further.

I don't believe Disney ever discount's their cruises beyond the GTY rates or the periodic 20% off on the cruise specials page for specific groups like Military, Canadians, and Florida Residents. All the discounts go to the Disney Cast members to fill last minute sailings never to the general public.

It certainly has not been Disney's practice to lower prices at the last minute. And the week the poster is listing is Easter Week. That has to be one of the highest peak weeks of the year for Disney and all cruise lines. With Disney, the way to get the lowest rate is to book early, not late.

I booked Easter weekend on the Wish last minute, military rate. Check the specials page often (I do). As mentioned here already, They have rates for Canadians, Florida residents and often a category of 20% off. I was going to Orlando already, so added the cruise last minute. The problem with last minute is trying to book anything or getting early dining, it’s all sold out.

My daughter got a great CM rate on the Magic for a 3 night sailing 4/18 (good friday thru Easter monday) over two months ago. I was surprised that the ship wasn’t filled. She actually got main dinner seating. I also found that the “hot” restaurant in my parents town had lots of empty tables last week and didn’t have the expected 45min to 1 hour wait. I think the economy has people rethinking their spending habits.

With Disney, the way to get the lowest rate is to book early, not late.

Sometimes the lowest rate is one of their discounted rates in the last few months or weeks before the cruise. I've followed specific cruises' prices from opening before and seen that happen. Once it was for a holiday cruise that opened with a high price and it only finally became reasonable with a GT rate a few months before the cruise. This happens when DCL initially overestimates the demand for a cruise, and it can actually be especially prone to happen with some of their overpriced holiday cruises.

I agree there won't be any precipitous price drop in the last few days before sailing, though.
