or how do they give you the bracelet?

Also one more question, I won a trip for 4 and we are staying in a deluxe hotel that sleeps 5. I have myself and my 3 kids signed up for the free part but the room sleeps 5 my DH is coming with us I bought him a ticket and the flight (he is flying on SW which is cheaper then US Air) down but the promotions department won't add him to the room ticket, will they do that arrival?
It is not a package just a room only ressie if that helps

Yes, they do scan the room keys these days.

Your other question is between you and the "promotions department".

We did night EMH at Epcot on June 1 and they scanned the KTTW card and gave us the wrist bands. We did night EMH at Magic Kingdom on June 2 and they just looked at the card and gave us the wrist bands.

How did you win?

a local radio station was giving away a trip a day to the 8th caller through when you heard the boarding call.

I got deluxe accomodations(that I could choose which hotel) for 5 nights and tickets for 4 with park hopping water parks and more for 5 days and $600 Disney Dollars and 4 flights there and back from the airport of my choice. oh and mears picks up at the airport but I would rather rent a van and go on my own.

I just want to get my DH a room key, I am hoping they will do that at check in for us, we are not going over the room allowances so I hope it is OK. Just looking for advice on that.

Congrats on your win!

In march they scanned for every emh we went to ...morning hours are all scanned as you get in. Evening hours are scanned with portable scanners at points through out the park to get the wristbands.

I'd call back the promotions dept and see if DH could be added..

I don't know the answer to your question, but I just want to remind you (and maybe others on here who don't know) you'll likely have to pay tax on the value of what you won as if you'd been given it in cash. Just keep that in mind -- some people don't know that and it ends up being a problem when they do their taxes for the year.

I'd love to win something like that myself -- I can't get enough Disney. :)

The OP is from Canada...most "prizes" are not taxable in Canada even if the prize is a trip to somewhere else.

In fact there are CDN business who help CDN's get their "tax" money back from casino's and the like that withold them in the US.

Normally CDN's are more taxed then US (income tax gst and pst) but this is one thing where we get (pardon the pun) lucky.

One CM scans the key, and it you are appove (not already used) they send you to a second CM who puts the wrist band on you. So every person needs to be present and have a valid card.

This poster is 100% correct, we don't have to pay taxes on any winnings, lottery or trips it is all tax free. Trust me we pay enough taxes in fact I think it was the 5th or 6th of this month (June) that was tax free day, which means that for the 1st 6 months everything that the average person earns goes to the government, and the rest of the year is for us, anyway this is off topic, but I just wanted to share that I will not be paying any taxes on this great trip which I figured out would cost about $5500 USD!

Congratulations! I am almost sure your DH will get a room key- You may want to call the resort and explain the situation to be sure they will give him a key card.

The trip we did in May, our Keys were scanned in Epcot and then a second cast member applied the wrist band. Later in the night, I saw people being asked to leave The Land because they were not wearing a wrist band. The CM's were checking on all the attractions that we rode. On our trip before this I don't recall having the key scanned at MGM. We had to show it. I think scanning is the proper way to go, how many people could bring a old key back in?

yes they are the ones looking after it, have you won something before with them?

Not sure if my situation will help you but, a couple of years ago we were staying in CSR with 2 connecting rooms. After I checked in, I told the CM that my sister would be joining us later and to please add her to the second room, when she arrived later she was given a key. I didn't tell them up front (when making the ressies) about my sister because I really wanted connecting rooms and thought if there were 3 adults in my party I wouldn't get the rooms.

Anyways, IMO, if you aren't going over the room limit and you will pay for his park tickets, I couldn't imagine why Disney would have a problem.

Also, this past trip we were booked in POFQ. My youngest was booked in my BIL's room because we have 5 in our family, over POFQ's room limit. My husband didn't come on the trip last minute. When I checked in I told them to remove dh and add ds to my room. CM said fine and that Disney doesn't care who is in the room in all honesty!

I think it should be ok for your situation. Have fun and congrats on your win!!

Congratulation! I'm completely jealous!

I would call just to make sure you have the most accurate information. And when you do call make sure you write down the name of the person you talked too!!

Have fun!

have you decided which resort you want to stay at?

Thanks for the info that was what I looking for! Thanks for your experience!

We have picked the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the kids for 2 nights then we move over to the poly for the next 3 My husband I really wanted to stay there so this is a great way to check out new places we have never stayed!

They should be able to add your DH at front desk. But I would also be prepared to possibly pay an extra $25 per night charge for him if you already have two adults ( that includes kiddos 18 and over) in your room.

Okay...you may have a problem here. Most rooms at AKL have a max occupancy of 4 (plus 1 infant in a crib).

I have that covered, I have the deluxe savannah view room booked which sleeps 5 so I am ok there, we got the bunk beds & the day bed with a queen.

My oldest child is 10 so I hope I won't have to pay this extra fee.
