Do CINGULAR INTERACTIVE PAGERS work in the parks? Re: Hurricane Katrina

DH works for BellSouth and he is actively involved in the coordination effort to repair and rebuild the phone lines in AL, MS, and LA. *IF* he is able to go on our trip, he absolutely must be able to answer emergency pages concerning Hurricane Katrina efforts. He says that the Cingular pagers work on a different system than the cellular phones.

So, does anyone know for certain if he'll be able to use his Cingular Pager while at WDW?

HI triplefigs. I work for BST also. Your DH must be management if he absolutley must be able to be reached via the ipager system...I am not sure about your question, as I do not have an i pager, but I do work at a CO and our boss has problems getting his ipages while at the CO...

Thanks. Yes, he's management. It's been nuts here, but it could be so much worse. My family lives in Mississippi and DH is a Mississippi State grad, so this hit way too close to home. Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on to DH. BTW, we're in Atlanta.

I am sorry that he may not be able to go on your trip with you. I just got back from taking all 4 of my kids to WDW by myself. Ages 10,9,6 and 2. DH is a tech for BST also and he could not come with us.Just to let you know, it can be done. Sure it wont be the trip you were planning, but you can enjoy your family even if DH cant be a part of it due to work. I hope it works out for y'all. Where in MS is your family from? Were the in the Gulfprt/ Biloxi area? I hope not.

No, Jackson, Philadelphia, and Olive Branch. Had minor damage in Jackson and Philadelphia. Hopefully, DH will be able to come, but helping those poor people definitely comes first in both our books. It looks like he will be able to, but he's got to be able to get pages. That's why he HAS to know for certain if they work in the parks.

I don't know about the pagers but we have Cingular cell phone service and in 2002 we had a huge blizzard and my DH recieved a phone call to come in and plow snow while we were sitting in the Enchanted Tiki Room in MK. I figure if they could get him there they should be able to get to your DH with the pagers because they have better reception then the phones. Hope this helps.

I have a friend that works at Epcot. I know he has a pager that we use to page him when we are at the parks and he is working. It gets way better reception than his cell phone. Unfortunately I don't know the carrier he uses. I think his cell is cingular so I would think that his pager would be too.

One of my DH upper levels is surveying the damage in MS right now for BST. I think it is going to be a long process to restore phone service over there.

Where in Atlanta are you as we are near Stone Mtn Park? DH works in Lilburn.
