Second question of the day, and somewhat related to my question of splitting/separating a lock off, only because I'm trying to consider all options given where things are with our ability to travel this year.
I have 46 points that were banked into this year that will expire on April 1 (don't call me a fool). Currently they are a part of a series of reservations I have in November at AKV Jambo. There are three reservations over four days (don't ask) two of which likely used the banked points, even though if you look at reservations they are not that specific at least on our end about what points were used.
Worried about the November trip not coming to fruition, I want to book a back up trip in March, just before the points expire. The 11 month window is coming up in about a week. If I book that trip, using the same contract as at the current reservations, and then I end up cancelling the November trip, will the March trip now use the banked points first, even though initially they appear to have been used to reserve the November trip? In other words, are the points fluid or mobile among your reservations, as long as they are within your same contract and home resort or otherwise, and whenever they are spent by the first need for them, they will always deduct from banked points first before taking from the current year's allotment?
My main concern for this year is not when I go, but that I use the 46 points that are going to expire. I have to doubt that DVC is going to allow extensions like other parts of the travel and amusement industry, only because in this case there are already a ton of points "piling up" since they are not being used for the 2-3 month (and beyond?) time period right now where all stays are cancelled. It's going to be hard enough for people to be able to use their points before expiration, at least at DVC resorts, over the next year or so.
Thoughts?
