I am in the process of buying DVC through the timeshare store. I went to Disney for the first time on my own last September and went on a tour of Saratoga Springs and was hooked . . . . . it's taken me until now to decide to buy enough points to visit every year (in "off" season) until I am 93!! Have any othe singles done the same?

Yep. Just did the same thing myself this past spring. My parents are DVC OKW owners (and have been for 15 years) so I was well aware of the resorts and how the system works. I finally decided to buy my own points as I always had to rely on what points they had "leftover" if I wanted to come down. This way I no longer have to go thru them to make reservations or plan around their schedule. I like to do 4 days, so I got enough points to do two 4-day trips (spring and fall) if I'm so moved.
BTW - I'll be 87 during my last year at Saratoga and plan on having my neices (or grand-neices) pushing me around in the chair to get to front! LOL!

Yup, I am single and am DVC:thumbsup2
I bought in 2004, I have 200 points...Normally, I go twice a year, one solo trip in a studio..And one trip in a 1 bedroom, with whoever can go..Usually either my boyfriend or my best friend...This year I have already done 2 solo trips and will be bringing best friend in December.

there are several of us - who are single and own DVC.

I brought in 93 and still love it!!!

remember the studios are GREAT and pretty wonderful for a single!

now they don't have the whirlpool tub, full kitchen, washer/dryer, livingroom - but look at the points you are not spending.....

Me too! I wanted to buy when I was married, but NDEH (that would be Not Darling Ex-Husband) pretty much said, "I hate Disney, we're never going there."

So, after I dumped him, I turned around and bought 200 points at SSR. Now I can go every year and never worry about ever seeing him there!:thumbsup2

I too am single and a DVC owner. I purchased in 2003 at BCV.

Its one of the best things I ever did.

I'm single, and I just bought 160 points at AKV in March! I'll be going "home" for the first time in September!

I'm single and bought at SSR May 2006. The kids and I have already spent two weeks at SSR in January, five days at GCH in DLR last week and have ressies for a week at SSR in December of this year. I won't have points available again to use until December '08 :scared1: My kids love it so much (and i do too) that I am thinking I may have to add more points before then! :rotfl2:

I am single and have been an owner at OKW for over 10 years. I bought originally with my ex-wife and then received it fully during our divorce in 2001. I am thinking of buying more points.

I am also a now-single owner, I got the BWV and the ex got some Disney stock in exchange. Not looking to get any more points, but will be buying more stock!

I'm so happy to see this thread. I just recently started looking at the possibility of DVC, but was iffy on it because I'm single, no kids etc.

Now I'm thinking it will be perfect for me, and whoever I chose to bring along (if I even do!). Unfortunately I need to clear a few expenses off my plate first, but after that I'm thinking this is just right for me.

I'm single with no kids and just bought AKV in May. I've already made reservations to take my 7 year old niece on her spring break next March. (She doesn't know yet, it's her Christmas present) I've been going for a week almost every year with my sister, BIL and niece and finally decided I would just go ahead and buy DVC. I am so excited about going home for the first time next year! :dogdance:

We own 300 points at BWV. DD is 10, DS is 9. DW passed recently. We will be on the Magic 7 day in October. This will be our first cruise "alone". We sailed three times previously and have enjoyed several vacations at WDW. I think we will keep the points (we all LOVE Disney), but want to see how the kids handle the first cruise without their mom first.

Yes, I'm single, and I bought at BCV when it was only 150 points minimum .
Oh, I purchased it during the pre-sale in February, 2002.

I am too....I just bought 160pts at SSR in March, went home in May for the first time as an owner. I know I'll keep going back to Disney properties for many years, so it was the best decision for me.

I'm single and I just closed yesterday on a resale for BWV (220 Points), just waiting to get in the system to make my first ressies.

Proud owner at BWV. Has been nice to ask friends to join me in a studio or just escape by myself. Can't wait for F&W 2007

Single with an empty nest, just bought my first points this spring. I had rented points 4-5 times and decided I wanted in. Have a small VWL contract and want to add 2 other small contacts at BCV and BWV (or OKW).

Single and without children and LOVE going... bought the DVC since I go so much and can stay almost at a moments notice. Bought at SSR and AKV totaling at 250 at the moment. If the CR does get a DVC there... then I will add to it.
