Do you bring them from home, or can you rent them? Any info? Thanks

Do you mean strollers? Because you can't use wagons (the type you pull behind you) at WDW. Strollers are a matter of preference- I always bring ours from home.

Does anyone know the reason behind this?? I'm just curious.
Because you pull them behind you, it's harder to know where they are. People also don't see them because they are low. They become a tripping hazard for other guests.

True, plus they're a lot less stable. Strollers are easier to control going over the curbs, etc.

Also if you use the Disney transportation to get from park to park, they don't fold up and would take up a lot of room on the buses, etc.

I've never had any of the above trouble and we use our wagon all the time when we go to the zoo, park, ect. I have more trouble with strollers, I'm forever catching my feet on the back wheel.

Those are the reasons that Disney has given for not allowing things that pull behind.

They are also very noisy on cobblestones and certain types of pavements.

And with the crowds, how do you tell that your kids are safe when they are being pulled behind you?

WDW stated to me that wagons are a no no at WDW. I was surprised people brought them in. I thought I had seen one a few years ago. That policy is current as of 10/05.

Our friends always bring a wagon. They bring a cooler with food and haul it and their kid in a huge wagon. They last did it this summer. Oh well food is not suppose to be allowed either but peolple bring it. good luck

It's not allowed at Disney and in 20+ trips I've never seen one. Food is one thing. A large wagon is another.

When we there in 2004, there was a family in front of us at the gate with two small kids in a wagon. The CM told them they were not allowed to take in the wagon and the father went crazy! The CM went over and got them a double stroller and told the father he would keep the wagon at guest services until they were done for the day. So, I can't imagine they would let anyone in with a wagon at all, even with just food.

We were just there in October and saw a guy pulling a wagon outside of Epcot heading back to his car, we made the comment, Wow! Great Idea! and he said NOPE! Not allowed to have them, he didn't know it at the time. I totally agree though that wagons would be too much at disney world! Imagine all the strollers being wagons, they have less control steering wise and what not, people would be getting run over and you cannot see behind you! So glad disney doesn't allow them and I have a 2 yr old. I believe the motorized vehicles are also tipping the edge of being a hazard. I truely believe many people need them but I have also seen families with mom and dad both having one and kids standing in front, some are so dangerous as they aren't paying attention to others.

DH and I have four dd's, NEVER owned a wagon, always used strollers, wherever!! They just make more sense!! I can't imagine WANTING to use a wagon instead of a stroller, ESPECIALLY in WDW!!?? :confused3

The ONE time I let one of my dds in a wagon she was two years old, the wagon tipped over and she broke her collar bone!! WAGONS ARE DANGEROUS!! (That did it for me!!)

Disney began banning wagons from the parks sometime around the summer of 2004. Prior to that you may have seen them there.

To answer the OP question, yes we use a wagon, but not at the parks. And yes you can rent them, from A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com). We do that and use the wagon at places other than the parks. And when we stay off property (in a home) it is very handy around the neighborhood.

Really, when my kids were little we LOVED our wagon. The kids did so much better in it and like to ride in it so much more than the stroller. I've watched strollers tip over, and I've watched kids fall getting in and out of strollers, and fingers get pinched in the strollers, so its possible to for a child to get injured regardless.

But Disney is simply too crowded. We used ours in the neighborhood.

And we've been taking our kids since 2002 - they were banned way back then, too - though it may not have been consistant.

I've seen wagons turned away at the gates many times over the years, definately way before 2004. I've seen more than a few people get very hostile about it, but I think it totally makes sense. I would think they would cause all kinds of problems in crowds.
