If our flight home is at 5:15pm, time would we need to be back at resort to get the bus? Trying to decide if we should take that flight or a later flight.....

DME will pick you up approximately 3 hours before flight time for domestic flights and 4 hours for international flights. You need to be at the DME bus stop 15 minutes before the scheduled pick up time.

Your pick up time will be between 2:00 and 2:30. You should plan on being back at the resort 1 hour before that.

Take a later flight! You know that last day is heartbreak... drag it out as long as you can. My feelings on the subject anyway.:stitch2:

We go in the opposite direction. We get an early afternoon flight so we just get breakfast , sit by the pool and then head to the ME bus. We prefer to have the day before our "last day". We also have done this on trips to other locations.

If I'm getting an early flight, I tend to stay a day longer, then hang at my resort, have breakfast and then relax for a bit before heading to the bus. If it's a late flight, then I try to get as much time in a park as possible that day. When I left WDW a week or so ago, I had a 6:00pm flight....DME was at about 3pm. I was at BC. I was able to join some friends and see Dr Strange that morning (DVC preopening screening) in DS at 9am, then headed to DHS to spend time with my CM dd. I headed to the Dolphin about 1ish, grabbed lunch at Picabu, then back to BC and my goodbye Mickey Bar!!!
For a 5:15pm flight you will get a pick up time of around 2:15....15 mins either way. You should be out at the bus stop, ready to go, at least 15 mins prior to your p/u time!! That means getting back to your resort no later than 1:30....everyone always likes to make that last sweep of the gift shop, the restrooms and such. Most have carry on bags stored with Bell Services, that can take a bit of time to get them back.

I agree with the above. And will emphasize, be sure to tack on an additional 15 minutes to your time to collect your carry ons from bell services! Don't leave that for the last minute, people have done that and literally missed their bus. The bus driver is on a strict schedule and will not wait for you. Also, have your paperwork ready for the bus driver!! There is nothing worse than sitting on the bus, stopping at the resorts before the airport, and everyone outside scrambling for their DME sheet for him. Have it in your hand ready to give to him. Be ready and prepared, don't make folks on the bus worry they're going to miss their flight.

I'd give it longer than that. I've had it take nearly 30 minutes to find my stuff.

Find your stuff? They give you a tag and its associated with that number and they go get it, what do you mean?

The time that took the longest, I would say it was about 30 minutes total. There were several people ahead of me and then when it was my turn, they had a hard time finding one of my bags.

And that is definitely not typical, but it can happen. Having multiple people ahead of you is pretty common and can take a while.

It's better to be 15 minutes early than 1 minute late.
