DME

Thanks for all the replies. We rent a car not to leave property per say, but unfortunetly Disney transportation has gotten really bad as far as time it takes to get anywhere , and we like doing dinner reservations at other resorts, with the buses that is a logistical nightmare. so we now rent a car and it makes life easier. We usually rent a suv, so not usually a problem fitting bags etc, from the airport , but We are staying at blt , so we don't need the car all the time so I was trying to save a few bucks and get a full size car.

What car rental company do you like? Which have you found to be the most efficient to get from baggage claim to in car and on the road?

sorry that's what I meant and I red a thread on here about it a long time ago. I can't remember if they just mention what I said or that someone had some problems by not taking DME.

Alamo, you can drop the car off at WDW, use RAC for your return luggage and DME for your return to MCO.

We usually use Alamo. Seem to be efficient and also best priced for the past 3/4 trips we have been on.

Just have one person ride DME and you can use the service.

If one person takes dme, is there any restriction on how many bags? There is 3 of us traveling plus a child. I should make the dme reservation for just the one person that's going to ride dme correct?

They send one tag per person reserved on DME. You can, or at least used to be able to request an additional tag but I don't know if that's still possible.

After reserving DME through DVC, you can call DME directly for extra tags, (866) 599-0951.

Yes, you can tag your bags without riding the bus. There's a whole long discussion on the topic over in the transportation forum.

Responding to <the short answer is no>
This post is completely incorrect.

Actually, that's not true. Empirical evidence is that they still pick up your bags. However, this is NOT a guarantee. DME's system is capable of checking who showed up for the bus and they reserve the right to not transport the bags if you are not on the bus. This is very similar to how airlines work - they won't transport your bag if you don't get on the plane (except in their case, it's an FAA regulation that they are not allowed to).

So yes - if you are the betting type, feel free to bet that your luggage will get there. If it's going to bother you if your luggage doesn't make it, I would personally plan to pick my bags up or have at least one person on the bus.
