DME vs CAB

My son and I 9 are flying to WDW and are arriving at MCO at 9:30pm on Sat 4/1. We will be going to FW to meet other family staying in Cabins and an RV. We will have no luggage just a small carry on bag. We signed up for DME but i began to wonder what it would cost for a cab to FW because we could be there in less than 45 mins. Does FW share a route with another resort? and does anyone know how long it would take to get there. Id like to be there sleeping before midnight

There are no set routes or resort groupings for DME buses. It's all dispatched based on need at that exact time. By taking a cab you would almost surely save time over DME because you won't have to wait in the DME lines (Welcome Center, bus queue) AND you said you won't have luggage so you won't have to wait at baggage claim. I've never caught a cab at MCO but I can't imagine it's a time-consuming process.

Most DME passengers are reporting getting to their resorts via DME within 75 minutes of landing. You think you can get there in 45 minutes by cab. So the question to ask yourself is, is getting there 30 minutes earlier (theoretically) worth the $50 or so cab fare? It's your call ....

In October 05 we arrived at MCO at 9:30pm and had one of those "worst case senairos" with DME, so we didn't get to the check in desk at AK until 12:15 am. We waited a long time in the line for a bus and then stopped at two resorts prior to arriving at AKL.

Since there was only one CM at the front desk and several parties arriving via the bus it took a long time to get checked in.

You can figure about $60.00 plus tip for a cab, we took one from the Dolphin to MCO and the cost was $57.00. Another alternative is a town car, you can reserve ahead of time for a fixed price and you know the driver will be waiting for you when you arrive. Most town car companies charge around $55.00 plus tip for a one way.

I am using DME again in April and hoping for a "best case senario" to report this time.

thanks for the information. I think we ll do the DME as it doesnt seem to bad. I really didnt know what to expect for the price of a cab so your informatioon is very useful.
