Im new to disney...my boyfriend and I are flying jet blue from newark to orlando...I havent signed up for DME...should I and why? Im not really sure how it works! THANKS!!! :cutie:

If you are not renting a car you should sign up for DME. DME will send you yellow luggage tags put them on your luggage. Once you leave your luggage at Newark you won't see it again until it's delivered to your room. Since you are flying JetBlue on your check out day you check your luggage in at the resort and don't see it until you're back at Newark. Plus it's free. We have used DME 3 times and love it!

WOW! that sounds great!! We plan on going to the parks the day we leave since our flight out of Orlando is at 6:30pm...do the shuttles to the airport run all the time?

When we were there in May the ME buses were running about every 30 minutes. On the morning of the last full day of your stay you will find an envelope hanging on your door with information about checking out and using ME to return to the airport. It will also have your scheduled time to catch the ME bus, which will be about 3 hours before your departure time. Some folks don't like this, but since most airports want you to be there about 2 hours before your departure time, and the ME bus might make stops at other resorts to pick up additional guests, plus it takes about 40 or so minutes to get to MCO, 3 hours is actually about right.

Bottom line, although your flight does not leave until 6:30 PM, you will be leaving your resort on ME by about 3:30 PM.

Here's a link to the page on All Ears that explains ME better than I ever could. http://allearsnet.com/acc/mexpress.htm

DME is a free service by Disney. It is 2 things: it's round-trip motorcoach transportation between the airport and your Disney resort, AND it's ONE-WAY automatic luggage handing between the airport and your resort (after you check your luggage with jetBlue in Newark, the next time you will see it will be INSIDE your resort room).

When you land in Orlando, skip baggage claim and go right to the Disney Welcome Center. You'll check-in, be shown to your bus queue, and then be shown to your bus. Up to 4 resorts will share a bus. The average reported time from deplaning to resort drop-off is 70 minutes. If you take the DME bus, it must be to your resort, you can't take one directly to a park.

The morning of the day before the day you leave, you'll get a paper telling you your assigned bus pick-up time, which will be approximately 3 hours before your departing flight.

Since you are flying jetBlue, you get to use another related service called Resort Airline Check-in. They have a desk at your resort lobby. Think of it as curbside check-in ... you check-in for your flight, get your boarding passes, and check-in your luggage. You won't have access to the luggage anymore, and the next time you'll see it will be on the baggage claim carousel at EWR.

DME is free, but you NEED advance reservations for it. Call Disney, or if you're within 60 days of your trip call DME directly at 866-59-0951.

Post back with any other questions, but I also advise you to read the first one or two posts in the DME-related "sticky" threads at the top of the Transportation forum.
