I want to verify that Southwest does participate in the DME service for luggage. Will luggage from Southwest flights be transported directly to resort with the proper luggage tags? I believe that I will have to bring the bags myself for the return flight as I cannot check the bags on Southwest on the website. Correct? Any feedback is appreciated.

Yes, you have it right, except that if you want to use resort check in (where the resort will check you in, give you your boarding pass and check your luggage) most resorts do not have that operational for SWA, so you will have to bring your luggage on the bus and check it in at the airport. Although I think the resort check-in is now operational for SWA at Pop Century and at least one of the All-Stars.

All airlines may participate in the luggage transfer service upon arrival, it's just the departure that's different.

You've got it right. Now, right now they are doing a trial run at POP and I think the All Stars resorts, so that you can use the RAC (resort airline checkin / remote airline checkin) for SW so you wouldnt have to drag your bags BACK to MCO, but as of this point, it's only at those resorts, and COULD end at anytime if they decide not to continue testing or for whatever reason. HOPEFULLY, and I do think it will happen, eventually, SW will come on board for all resorts, but again, that's just 'hoping' at this point.
